~...I used to think about how you would act when a nigga got money, now you done switched up on me...~

Marlena (Markea) and Harley in the mm😻👆🏾

"Let's discuss you alls daughter, Harley Lorraine Tiller, first," I listened to Marlena's lawyer say.

"What about her?" I ask rudely.

My attorney tapped me on my wrist as a way to tell me to shut up before I say something out of hand. I rolled my eyes.

"We need to talk about custody and living conditions," he continued.

I looked over at Marlena. I know she's not trying to take custody of Harley away from me. Not after she allowed me to bring her to Louisville with me this evening. Or has she changed her mind?

"We're going to work that out on our own," I told him," right Marlena?"

Marlena sighed but she shook her head," Yes, that's not a problem."

"Good," my lawyer, Attorney Jessica Brown, said," now we can move on and discuss the money."

Everything was always about money these days.

"Right," Marlena's lawyer nodded," We've decided that Mr. Tiller should pay his wife roughly around 48K. That's not including the suspected child support at the prices of around 15K a month."

My eyes got big," You've got to be fucking kidding me."

"Bryson," Marlena called my name.

"Don't Bryson me. Why in the hell are you trying to put me on child support when I actually support my damn child!? It's not like I don't do my part in her life."

"Things that she needs from her father can't be given to her from different households," Marlena argued.

I shrugged," Well maybe you should have considered that before you filed for divorce."

"Or maybe you should've tried to fulfill your duties as a married man so I wouldn't have to get a divorce!"

"You and I both know that 15K is bullshit and so is that 48 thousand too!"

"You two need to calm down," my attorney whispered in my ear.," let me handle this."

I leaned back in the rolling chair with my head rested against my palm. I'm the last person you would hear refer to a woman, especially one I've had relations with, a bitch but right now Marlena was acting like one.

"15K is a bit absurd to be charging my client, don't you think? He is a wonderful father. If you don't believe me, let his daughter tell you for herself. There is no way a child, at three at that, needs 15K a month. What is she possibly buying? A car!?" My lawyer argued.

"Mrs. Brown your client may be a spectacular father and his daughter may be just three, but if he truly loves her, he should know she needs to have a based college fund for her future. She will possibly have hospital bills and dental care that require the money."

"And I pay for all that already," I sighed," so still...what's the purpose?"

"Then tell her to get a job. It's simple. There are plenty of working mothers in the world. Your client could do the same. According to her records, Mrs. Marlena hasn't had a job since her and my client got married. That has been two years ago."

"That's why she is asking for the 48K so she can continue to live the life of that she has become accustomed to," Marlena's lawyer barked.

"What the fuck? She can't do that. Can she?" I asked my attorney. She nodded with a hopeless look on her face.

"Sadly yes, she can sue you over lifestyle reasons."

"You're trifling as fuck," I said pointing at Mar.
She just sat there with her hands clasped together on the top of the table. Marlena just shrugged. I can't believe she was doing this to me. Treating me as if I was a complete nobody to her. Like we'd never once before been in love.
I seriously needed to hit the blunt right about now.

"Is there anyway we can try to negotiate these payments to a lower price. Possibly cut them in half to 7K a month for child support and maybe 24K for lifestyle reasons," my lawyer persuaded.

Marlena nodded," I could consider that."

Finally, she has given me some benefit in the situation.

Marlena's lawyer disagreed," Why should we cut down the price when your client here is a multi-platinum selling artist. He is sitting on approximately 4.7 million dollars off of record sells alone. Let's not forget to mention the 50K he gets paid just for a feature or for co-writing a hit for someone else. Yes, I check my records too."

"You didn't check thoroughly because my money has somewhat decreased since then. My income isn't the same anymore. I haven't wrote a hit for anyone, let alone myself, in almost a year," I informed him.

"Sounds like a personal problem Mr. Tiller because you can always get back to doing your job. There are plenty of working fathers in the world. You could do the same," Marlena's attorney mocked.

"Cut the prices," my lawyer begged.

I looked at Marlena who looked at her lawyer. He seemed to be the way too serious type of guy. No wonder why I don't like him.

"You can half the prices but I want my money," Marlena told us.

"Is that ok with you Bryson?" My lawyer asked me.

I licked my lips," Yeah...whatever to get out of here the quickest. I got a plane to catch."
