Being a parent at such a young age wasn't something you exactly found easy to tell Liam - not because you weren't proud of your son or that you weren't thankful to have him - but simply because you feared a child might scare him off.

Still, Y/S/N was a part of your life and you knew you couldn't - nor would you - choose to hide this.

At 22, you had a 4 year old son who found the world a huge, scary and exciting place all at once. You though? You found it scary and huge and that was as far as it went.

The only person who gave you hope was your little boy, and now, Liam.

A knock was heard, signalling that Liam was here. You'd been seeing each other for a few weeks now, going on a few dates here and there, and you hadn't mentioned Y/S/N yet. Not until today.

You opened the door, instantly feeling the air being knocked from your lungs by the sight of Liam's brown eyes alone.

"Hey love, is everything okay?" Liam asks, concerned, after you had said you wanted to talk.

"Everything's fine, there's just something I need to discuss with you that's really important." You explain, letting him in.

"Okay... Is it something I've done?" He asks, slowly.

"No, Liam, it's nothing like that. It's something I should've told you when I first met you." You sigh as he sits down, nodding.

"Oh okay," Liam replies, completely confused as he looks at you full of concern.

"This might come as a shock to you, but I have a son," You tell him, straightforwardly.

His eyes widen as he stares at you in shock.

"He's 4 years old, I had him when I was 18 and I know I should've told you before and I'm sorry I didn't, but he's a huge part of my life and you deserve to know what you're dealing with."

"Wow, okay..." He trails off, completely speechless.

"It's okay if you don't want to see me anymore, I'll understand." You tell him, having had this situation before, but never with a guy you liked quite so much.

"Don't be silly, I wouldn't just run away because you have a son," Liam tells you, seriously.

"Really?" You ask, in surprise.

"It's a massive shock, but... Well, he's a part of you so I'll just have to accept that." He says, earnestly.

"Liam, you don't have to do this." You remind him.

"I know I don't, I could walk away now if I wanted to, but Y/N, I like you - a lot - and I want to at least try and make this work. You come as part of a package, but that doesn't mean we can't work." He responds, wholeheartedly.

"Plus, I actually love kids. My mate Louis has a little boy called Freddie and I absolutely love him to bits. I consider him to be like my little nephew." He adds, a smile adorning his face as he speaks.

Of course you'd heard about Louis' baby, it was hard not to when it had been plastered all over the tabloids, but you never knew how close Liam was to him.
