Chapter 40

A year later..

Harry was now 2 years old and things had changed since Colette had left Hogwarts. Tom was true to his word.. He did become the most feared wizard in the world.

He did actually change his name to Lord Voldemort. Rumours was going around that Voldemort had found a prophecy with Harry's name in it.

The prophecy had said that the only person that could defeat Voldemort was in fact Harry. Colette of course didn't believe it..

She knew about prophecy's from camp and knew that sometimes they can have a double meaning.. but perhaps with hope.. Harry could indeed defeat him.

She did hope that everything was going to be okay.. until the night the potter's turned her life upside down..not to mention theirs too..

James looks at Lily ass they sit across each other at the dining table. "We are going to have to tell her aren't we?."

Lily nodded. "You'd best go and fetch her down here."

James ran quietly upstairs so that he didn't disturb Harry and then went into Colette's room shoving her awake.

Colette sat up groggily. "Eh?..Is Everything alright?."

James shook his head. "We need you downstairs right now..We have something to tell you."

Alarmed at what James had said and the look on his face told her this was serious. She hoped they wasn't going to kick her out or whether she had done something they didn't like.

But thankfully as she sat at the table with James and Lily..She realized that it wasn't the case.. What it was..Was something far worse.

Lily emptied her throat. "We have to tell you something Colette, We understand if this changes your mind about staying with us but we felt you should know the truth."

Colette nodded. "I appreciate that.. What is it?..What's wrong?."

Lily touched Colette's hand gently. "Colette dear.. You know how Voldemort has found a prophecy with Harry's name in it.."

Colette nodded. "If rumors are to believed yeah.."

James and lily give each other an awkward look. James smiled at Colette. "The Rumour's themselves have been confirmed..We have friends in a place called The Order of the Phoenix watching Voldemort's every move."

Colette frowned. "So what?.. Surely this could be a good thing.. If harry can defeat the guy clearly Harry's made of stronger stuff than him."

James frowned. "That's not the point.. He's coming after us regardless.."

Colette looked at him confused. "But why?.."

James shrugged. "It's obvious isn't it?.. To kill us and Harry so he can't have full control of the world.."

Colette sighs. "It won't just be that..He'll be taking his revenge on me.."

James looked at her confused. "What?..What are you talking about."

Colette moves her hand away from lily and stands up staring out the kitchen window. "He knows who I am.. He's the one who opened the Chamber of secrets in hogwarts..He's Tom Riddle...The guy I fell in love with.."

James spluttered.. "WHAT?! DID YOU KNOW WHO HE WAS THE ENTIRE TIME?!

Colette turned around nodding. "He told me before he left..He told me of his plan to take over the world and he wanted me to go with him but I refused..You guys are like family to me.."

James stood up angrily. "And this is how you repay us..."

Lily looked up at James. "James dear.. This isn't her fault..She wasn't to know.."

Colette shrugged. "I should've known from the moment I was sorted into slytherin." 

Colette looks at James sadly. "I already beat myself up enough.. Thinking I could've stopped him from killing that girl Myrtle and every person he's killed since..There's nothing you can say that can make me feel any worse.."

Lily got up and hugged her. "It'll be fine..You'll see.. Dumbledore's magically proofed the house  so that we stay hidden."

Colette smiled slightly. "Maybe there's hope then after all.." Her smile slowly fades when she looks at James's angry face. 

James yells at her. "Go to Your room.. You're lucky I don't throw you out right now.."

Colette gets into James's face angrily. "You're not my dad!.." She runs upstairs into her room slamming the door in tears.
