Chapter 15

"Did you see how scare he was." Melanie laughed because of the way Angie made Jake leave.
"I know it's probably because he knows who my daddy is." Angie says with sassiness.
"You must really be attached to your dad because you call him daddy." I say thinking about how it would've probably been if my father had stayed with us.
"Oh no silly I hate my actual father."
I look at her confused, so is her dad like her step father or something.
"Oh I see you don't get it. Do you guys get it?" She ask looking at Marina and Melanie but mostly Melanie since Marina is kind of scared.

"A daddy is kind of like a boyfriend but one who may be a bit older, and well with someone who is a dad figure you've probably never had.."
"Wow I think I need one.." I say jokingly. Marina turned to look at me kind of shocked.

"Don't worry Lana you got me." Marina said in an altered tone. I smiled at her regard.
"Thank you Marina. You got me as well."

I then had a flashback of the day that Marina and I kissed. I could almost taste her lips. I was only a few inches apart from her. I could almost accidentally kiss her, right? My thoughts were dragged down when I remembered that she is in fact straight.

"How about you Lana are you down?"
"Oh wait what sorry, I got distracted by those clouds."
"About going to this one hotel I know of and getting inside the swimming pool."
"Oh wow I guess I'am down. What day though?"
"Tomorrow in the afternoon."
"Yeah it will be hot tomorrow."
"Alright then its a plan. Now I'm going to go catch the bus. Text me all of you."
"Bye!" We all said in unison.

Now it was only Melanie, Marina, and I who were sitting. After we all walked around the park and enjoyed the sunset. It was already getting late. I checked my watch and it was 8:30 and Melanie promised her mother she would be home at exactly 8:00.

As we raced to my car Melanie received a call from her mother. And from the look that Melanie had on her face looked like her mother must be mad at her for being out late. I started the car and didn't even bother to wait for the car to warm up.

I speeded a few times just to get Melanie to her house as fast as we could. When we arrived one street away from her apartment she called her mother so she could see that we dropped her off.

"If you want I can explain to her why we were late." I suggested looking at Marina hopping she would agree as well but she was just out of it.
"Okay. I mean, if you guys are alright and not in a rush."
"Alright." I say stopping the car. Outside the building of the apartment was Melanie's mother who looked a bit mad. She cooled down when both me and Melanie walked towards her.

"Hello my name is Lana." I say holding out my hand with a smile on my face.
"Nice to meet you Lana, I'm Norma."
"Sorry for dropping her off late, its just that time when by so fast." I looked over at Melanie who was right next to her mother and her face was a bit more calmer I guess since her mom was not mad anymore.
"Well I have to go and drop off our other friend." I say pointing my thumb behind me.
"Thank you so much for giving her a ride Lana."
"Yeah sure no problem."

As I get inside the car I look over at Marina before starting to drive.
"Are you alright Marina?" She just nodded her head.

The whole drive to her house was silent. I even tried killing the silence by offering her to stop at a gas station to buy something. But she obviously just wanted to go home.

As we got closer I knew I couldn't leave Marina at her house with sadness or madness.

"Hey Marina wait." I say closing the doors of the car. We were parked in front of her house.
"What?" She asked a bit pissed.
"I don't want you to leave this car until you tell me what's wrong because I get worried that I must've done something."
"Everything is alright." She says looking over me giving me a half smile.
"Marina c'mon I know something is up."
"I'm perfectly fine. Can I ask you something?"
"Of course you can."
"Do you think of Melanie as your best friend?" She asked a bit annoyed.
