Chapter 17

I wasn't sure how I've been feeling this whole week. Today is finally Friday and Marina's birthday. We agreed not to talk this week during school just in case our parents were on the look out. I hanged out with Melanie while Marina hanged out with Angie. At times we would switch and I would get Angie.

I secretly talked to Marina in some classes. We were just both scared of getting separated by either of our parents.

The fact that I even had to secretly hide her present in the trunk of the car where my mom wouldn't look was terrifying.

I really hope she likes the present I got her though.

Before going to school I decided to stop by Vons and buy a big chocolate cake, I then decided too buy her a Starbucks drink. I got her a caramel mocha frappé.

I met up by a spot that Angie, Melanie, and I decided to go and wait for Marina to arrive at school. We came extra early just to use one of the rooms which was the Art teacher's class. He didn't have a first or second period.

We quickly placed on one table the plates and as well the food we brought. Melanie bought pizza , because of course what's a party without pizza and besides it's Marina's favorite. Angie brought two large liter sodas. She got Dr.Pepper and of course Coca Cola, which is a must.

I quickly called Marina to see where she was.

"Hey Marina.." She paused for a moment and I could hear her mom talking in the background.
"Hey Melanie..." She said sarcastically and I knew I had to go along with it.
"So are you near?"
"Yeah I'm actually about to get out the car I'll see you right now Melanie."

Everything was so far going well and I didn't want anything bad to happen. I planned out everything so well because near the entrance of the school Melanie was waiting for Marina.

When I heard Marina's voice and Melanie as the came up I got nervous.

Mr.Stevenson was as happy as all of us were because he really thought of Marina as his favorite student.

"Where are we going?" I could hear Marina asking as Melanie is about to open the door.

"SURPRISE!!!" We all said in unison.

The amazement on Marina's face was everything. The way her sparkled, I'm so happy that she was happy in this moment.

We all made our way to the table as Mr.Stevenson congratulates her for her birthday. I was so happy we didn't have to go to first or second.

Melanie connected her phone to the speakers and started playing music.

We all grabbed a plate of food and we legit stuffed our mouths with it all. I couldn't believe it was already October and Marina was already turning 19.

As we all finished our food Mr.Stevenson wanted to have a quick discussion.

"Just before anything else happens I want to see how all of you are doing?" He looked over to Melanie first. Wow I really miss these therapy type of sessions with him.
"Well my name is Melanie and I'm new here and so far I like this school... Well the friends I have made here." She smiled and it was now Angie's turn.
"Well everything is alright I almost got ran over by a car a few days ago and really made me think about life." We all had shocked expressions on our faces.
