About 2 hours passed by and I knew it was time for me to go and Marina seemed a bit better. She was soundly asleep as I got up from the chair I sat next to her bed. I didn't want to wake her up so I pretty much tip toed and quietly shut the door. The door made a squeaky noise. I looked to see if I had woken up Marina but no.
"That was close." I whispered to myself thinking out loud. As I walked heading towards the stairs Marina's mom was behind.
"What was close?" Marina's mom looked at me confused as I looked to her eyes and realised she was being serious and was concerned.
"Oh nothing its just that Marina slept on the way here in my car because of cheer practice... And well I didn't want to wake her up." I was so bad at making excuses and just when I thought I had to tell her the truthabout the drinking she smiled."Oh my thank you Lana, you really are a good friend. I'm sure Marina appreciates it as much as I do. And sorry for not helping you bring her to bed I just barely came from work."
"Oh it was nothing, trust me. Well I gotta run. Have a nice day."
"You too Lana."I waved bye and quickly sprinted out the door. I burst out laughing because she actually believed me. I never would write out Marina especially if that meant she wouldn't be able to see me.
*******
It was Tuesday and to me that meant that there was three more days until Friday came. I hope that today when Marina and I see each other at school she won't remember anything and maybe even explain to me why she was actually sad during the concert.
Walking into my first period with my fingers crossed, hoping that Marina actually came to school today.
And guess what... she did.
My life, my sunshine was with a bright smile and reflection on her face. As she saw me walk into the room she smiled with an eyebrow raised up. I felt a tension I've never felt before.
"Did you miss me?" she said with her voice in more lower pitch tone.
"Yes I did and you left me all alone. Do you care to explain why you left your dork alone with all these humans I hate?"
"I was just tired from the weekend so I decided to stay home and chill."
"You know you could've invited me. Don't be so greedy next time." She laughed softly. I was amazed at how she really didn't remember anything that had happened between us."I promise I won't miss a day anymore." I looked at her unsure with now my eyebrow up.
"Lana I mean it for real. Pinky promise!" She pointed out her tiny cute pinky. I purposely let her hanging for a few seconds just to get the little puppy face out of her.
"Alright. Pinky promise?!"
"Yeah pinky promise." Starring into her deep brown caramel eyes just reassure her that I'm taking this promise seriously. Our eye contact was disturbed by the teacher."Are you guys for real? Stop this whole pinky stuff and pay attention now Lana go sit in that corner."
Marina turning red she anxiously looked at me as I got my bag and pushed the chair in."No please I promise she we won't be distracted anymore." Her voice shaking but still with power she gave the teacher the face that makes anyone change their mind.
"Oh alright. But the next time I will keep you both after school."After 3rd period I walked with Marina to her locker.
"Oh shit!" She slightly slapped her face.
"What's wrong?" I must admit I kind of panic.
"I forgot my phone in the room I left it charging. Can you wait for me here I'll be back real quick?"
"Yeah of course."
"Oh my gosh thanks so much Lana!"She ran off into the hall way. It was both cute and funny the way she ran.
I then heard footsteps coming towards behind me in my direction. I didn't turn around, I kept on looking straight.
"OMG! Lana?!" The familiar voice made me quickly turn around.
"Oh what the hell! Hey Melanie. What are you doing here?!"
"It's my first day of school and I've been such a loner the whole day. I can't fucken believe you come here."I gave her a quick hug.
"This is so cool honestly. Where's your girlfriend though?" She looked at me confused and I just squinted my eyes confused as well.
"What girlfriend?"
"Marina... Isn't she your girlfriend? You guys seem very close to each other."I instantly felt my self get boiling hot. Melanie noticed and tried changing the subject.
"So how did you like the concert?"
Embarrassed as fuck I stuttered my response.
"I-I liked it and it was fun! What about you?"Before Melanie could even respond Marina came raicing right behind me.
"Oh my god Melanie!" Marina being the nice person she is, welcomed Melanie with a hug.
"I'm so happy that I know some people now." Melanie led out a nervous laugh. It was a bit awkward but we ended up walking to our usual spot that Marina and I sit during lunch.
"I'm pretty sure you will really like it around here." Marina elbowed me.
"Right Lana?"
"Yeah for sure it really is chill around here.""So are you guts involved in any school stuff?" Melanie asked curious to know what we spend our time doing.
"I made the basketball team." I said so basic with no emotion because it really wasn't anything.
"Wow that's cool Lana when is your first game?"
"In about a week, and I mist admit I'm a bit nervous."Melanie eyes widen with energy.
"What about you Marina?" Melanie snapped Marina's thought, away she was really thinking deep.
"Oh. I'm in cheer and it's alright."I was very concerned especially since she was so dry.
"That's awesome I'm down to go watch you play."
"Then you should come. Marina will for sure be there because she's a cheerleader."
"Alright it's a plan."Marina wasn't pitching into the conversation, she had her phone out and looked down for the rest of lunch. Is she upset, is she mad. I can honestly never tell. It's like this mysterious and dark air had reigned over her. I've never really seen this side of Marina.
"I'll be back. I'm going to the restroom." She got her bag and left.
"Alright. Be careful." I said especially because Jake could be around."Wow is she alright?"
"I don't know but I guess not."
"I could tell you really care about her..." I looked at Melanie getting red.
"- whether you like her that way or not you're a great friend Lana." She smiled but I felt so vulnerable.
"Alright Melanie just want to let you know before you start thinking I have a thing for her, I really don't she is a great friend but I'm not gay."When I said the words 'not gay' I felt as if I just lied to myself. I felt bad when Melanie looked like I just said something that hurt her.
"Hey but do you have a number or something so we can talk?"
"I do." She lightened up as if we had a fight.
"I have a facebook as well." She gave me a creeper face.
"Alright shoot them digits first."We switched phones and handed each other our social media.
I honestly was happy we met Melanie she is such a great friend.
