Calamity

Chapter 13:

Baekhyun is sitting down silently at the dining table. He secretly took a glance at HaeJin who is cooking up something. Baekhyun averted his gaze as HaeJin made her way to the dining table. She glared at Baekhyun before serving the fired rice to him with a slight 'bam' on the table.

'She's mad.'

Baekhyun then look at HaeJin and said," Sorry. They will leave you alone now. Please don't be mad anymore."

HaeJin then replied as she put her spoon down," I am not mad. I am disturbed."

Baekhyun quickly grabbed the spoon. He was hesitant to continue to eat but he slowly took a bite. There was an awkward silence in the room. Baekhyun cleared his throat and said," This is delicious."

HaeJin smiled and said," Thank you for everything. I will do anything to make to repay you."

Baekhyun smiled and said," Call me Oppa."

HaeJin froze. Baekhyun pouted and said," You said you would do anything. Plus I am older than you."

Haejin hesitantly asked," How old are you?"

Baekhyun put the spoon and chopsticks down and took out his wallet to show his legal ID to HaeJin before continuing eating. HaeJin exclaimed," You're 22?! You are a year older!"

Baekhyun stare at the woman and said," Yup."

Baekhyun has a motive for doing this. He knew that it would be better to tell the truth rather than her finding out. He knew it would be nasty and his cover would be blown to the school and public. HaeJin then asked that magical question," Why are you in high school?"

Baekhyun then took out his police ID and said," I am undercover to solve the chain murders at that school. I would appreciate if you keep it silent. Plus, You said you would make it up to me. Since I am the police staying with me would safe you from those loan sharks."

HaeJin sighed and asked," Do your friends know?"

Baekhyun shook his head and said," Nope. It would be for the best for them or they would be targeted."

HaeJin smiled and said," You are a good friend."

Baekhyun smiled at HaeJin. He did not expect this reaction from her. He was getting ready to be slapped. Baekhyun paused eating as he got a text. He looked and saw that it is from Kai and he want to meet him. Baekhyun then stood up and wore his jacket. HaeJin was startled by his sudden movement and asked," Where are you going?"

Baekhyun paused and look at the younger one. He pout and said," It's Oppa. 'Where are you going, oppa?' Say it 'OPPA'."

Haejin look down in embarrassment and asked," Where are you going, Oppa?"

Baekhyun smiled proudly as he heard the lady saying that. Baekhyun ruffled the lady's hair and said," I am going out for a while. I'll be back in ten minutes."

Baekhyun grabbed his keys and left the apartment. Baekhyun look up and realised that it is already dark. Baekhyun muttered," It is already this dark?"

He casually walk to the meeting place he meant to meet Kai. He still had no idea what the guy wants but he knew that it must be something really important for Kai to text him. Baekhyun leaned at the wall behind him as he played with his phone.

Footsteps can be heard at the walkway. Baekhyun kept his phone as he thought that Kai had arrived. But he was wrong. A hooded figure is at a distance. He thought it was Kai as he cannot really see the face of the man due to the dark night and really bad lighting from the street lamp. Before Baekhyun could react, a loud bang echoed the walls.
