"Richard, do you take Esmeralda Figueroa as you wife?"

Bam! I fell to the ground, I must have rolled over and fallen.

"Are you okay Esme?" Richard asked me pulling me up into the bed.

I thanked Richard but I had to immediately rush to the bathroom. Richard followed me and pulled my hair back just in time.

"Esme, Esme, estas bien?" Richard asked me panicking. It was actually kind of cute when he worried about me.

"Yep," I mumbled. I pulled down the toilet top and sat on it while Richard kneeled down and held my hands asking me again if I was okay.

"I'm okay Richard," I hushed him.

"Okay then. I just don't want to lose you," he replied looking up to my face.

"Can you do me a favor? Give me my bag with my stuff...ya know the girl stuff," I said awkwardly.

He agreed and got my bag from the top of the bathroom counter handing it to me. "Why? What is it?"

I slowly opened the bag and checked the calendar, a sigh of relief escaped my lips. For a moment I had thought I was pregnant but my period wasn't late. In two days my period would arrive.

The next day when Richard and I went to sleep I kept thinking if maybe I was pregnant. Sometimes my period would come on different days but last month it came on the 20th. Today is the 20...

Maybe it's coming tomorrow, I thought.

The next day after that it didn't come either.

"Richard, I'm not going to lie to you...I think there's something wrong," I mentioned as I walked into the dining room where Richard was seated. He had made breakfast.

"What happened?"

"I think I might be pregnant..." I let it sink in to Richard.

He looked up at me happily,"Are you for real?"

Richard walked up to me picking me up bridal style swinging me around. He cheered so loudly I couldn't help but be happy too.

"We're going to have kids!" Richard shouted excitedly.

He then put me down and told me to get ready because we were going to the gynecologist to make sure. After he got dressed and I did too, Richard drove us to the center of the city where the best gynecologist was located.

After a couple of hours in the waiting room the doctor attended us. The doctor- Dr.Reyes, was a nice young lady.

When she made me take the pregnancy test it came out positive.

Richard cheered loudly once more and after I had to calm him down the doctor said something else.

"Do you know how many months?" Dr.Reyes asked me.

I shook my head no and she led us to another room where she made me sit down on the bed. Richard took a seat next to me and held my hand.

"We're going to see how old the baby is," am the doctor said.

"Mmm mhmmm. Honey you've been pregnant for four months already," the doctor replied.

"What?" Both Richard and I said in synch.

"But Dr.Reyes I have had my period for the last four months...how does that work?" I asked confused, it didn't make sense to me at all.

The doctor smiled at me,"Esmeralda you don't need to miss your period. Sometimes when your pregnant you can still get your period. And I have another surprise."

"What?" Said Richard very nervous and excited at the same time.

"They're going to be baby boys!" The doctor replied enthusiastically.

"What?" Richard and I said in synch again.

"Twins!" The doctor replied.

Richard couldn't wait to pick me up but he did and he twirled me for what seemed forever. By the time he out me down I was extremely dizzy so I held on to Richard.

"Just take care honey. Everything is okay but next month come in here again to have the monthly check up."

Both Richard and I nodded and headed out the gynecologist very happy. When we got into the car Richard blasted the radio on and I sang along to the songs. Later, he turned the radio down a bit lower. He was now rubbing my belly.

"All those rough nights did pay off," he winked causing me to blush and reminisce those nights.

"Well I guess that's our first year anniversary present," I mentioned remembering that exactly one year ago we had gotten married.

"Of course," Richard winked.
