I shook my head in a confused state, "amnesia?"
"Yes," the doctor replied frowning, "it's a partial or total loss of memory, caused by disease, physiological trauma or brain damage."
"W-why do I have it?" I stutter, being unable to recall having any of the things she described.
"You were in a car accident," the doctor announced, "it gave you brain damage and some nasty cuts and scars. You've been here weeks. We were scared you would have amnesia, however it could have escalated into anything worse."
Anything worse? I'd been in a car accident and all I received were some nasty cuts and scars? What kind of car accident would that be?
I didn't know how to to feel: relived, shocked or terrified. I felt slight jolts of pain in one or two of my limbs occasionally, yet nothing else, apart from confusion of course.
"You are completely fine to go back home and back to school." The doctor finalized her examination, "think of it as a clean slate, hopefully people should be more than helpful and remind you of who they are and what you don't remember."
The doctor smiled and with that she left. Leaving me bewildered and in a fit state to leave and find out who I am.
The lady approached the same spot where the doctor had knelt. She had tears in her eyes. Her lip trembled. I simply squinted at her, my eyes telling her to leave me alone.
"I can't believe you won't remember who I am - I am your mother."
I blinked a little, barely believing that the lady was actually my mother. You'd think this woman was crazy, I certainly did. Although there was a sense of innocence about her, as if she was desperate for me to know who she was. I pitied her a little, she must feel worse than I do.
"And this is your brother, Joe and your sister, Adria." My mother pointed toward two people. She didn't seem hesitant at all, she just fling me into this situation with my siblings, may I add, I only just met her, let alone who my family were.
The boy was around 6ft 2 looking and had tousled chestnut hair. His eyes were the colour of emeralds, he had olive skin and light freckles across his nose. His face showed a concerned expression, proving how much he cared for me. He was wearing a white t-shirt and denim shorts.
The girl had mouse-brown hair that cascaded down to her bottom ribs, matching eyes with our brother, the same skin tone and more defined freckles. She was tall and appeared to be around 6ft. She looked even more anxious than my brother, almost in tears. She seemed younger than my brother and wore a black dress.
By my siblings outfits I guessed that it was summer, I was unsure of the country I was in. My mind began to wander to other blanks. My mind was drawn to who our father is. Our mother has dirty blonde hair and is in possession of eyes that contain the ocean. She did, however, share the same skin tone to us; olive and smooth skin that went perfectly with everyone's hair colour.
My mother left a pile of clothes on my bed; black shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a pair of black shoes. "Get changed and we can go home." She sniffled, still upset at the result. I guessed she couldn't wait to get me home and try to forget.
The people, my mother and my siblings all left the room. Mainly my mother ushering them out. A clatter of people's shoes touching the floor as they exited. Many I still did not know of, yet I now knew they were in the correct room and what is wrong with me.
Another end of another chapter.
My favorite line this chapter was...
I am your mother
(Even though that wasn't a whole line, whoops!)
I like it because it reminds me of Darth Vader from Star Wars.
Adios amigos,
