I, once again, woke up to light going through my curtains. Perhaps if they weren't white the light wouldn't filter through. It was like straining water through a sieve. Surprisingly I was excited for school. I had: great friends, a handsome boyfriend and a supportive sister. The cons: a jealous 'friend', lessons and amnesia.
I leaped out of bed, contently strode toward my wardrobe and flung the doors open. Gosh, I had to get rid of these inappropriate clothes as soon as possible. Whilst handing the material a disgusted and disappointed look, for now I pushed them aside and picked out some denim shorts (that weren't as short) and a white lace top, followed by white converse. I brushed through my hair and stuck the same pair of sunglasses from yesterday through my hair.
Picking up my bag (which you'll be happy to know wasn't buried under a pile of laundry), I closed my door behind me as I knocked on Adria's door. This had become some sort of routine. Today she was wearing black shorts, black ankle boots, a plain black t-shirt and had her hair tied half up - half down with a black scrunchie.
She smiled signaling that we could leave, then picked up a black bag of her own. We raced each other down the staircase. "I win!" She fist-bumped the air.
I groaned in defeat. Her celebrating was cut off by Joe, who shouted from the kitchen, "Be quiet! Im studying for my exams!"
"Sorry." We both apologized in unison, then laughed quietly together. We walked to school as we did yesterday and hugged goodbye, before departing to our different friendship groups. I wondered why she didn't hang out with my friends. I understand how siblings annoy each other, getting on each other's nerves, but we get along fine.
Did we used to not get along?
My friends surrounded me in a large embrace. They seemed to do this as a greeting for everyone, every time the group was reunited. The only person who didn't participate in the massive group hug was Danielle, who hung back. She looked a little smug, less jealous than yesterday. I instructed myself to not form a grudge against her, Chase was attractive and I would feel jealous too (maybe).
At that moment Chase burst through the door and joined his mates group. I decided to greet him despite that he was with his friends. "Morning beautiful." He smiled, pulling me into a short hug.
Whilst breathing (because most people do that), I caught a whiff of his scent. He smelt as good as he looked. Okay, that sounded weird, ignore that comment (if you can).
"Morning handsome," I panted breathlessly from running over.
He laughed a little at my fitness, which I attempted to not find offensive. As our two friendship groups merged, we walked together to my friends. Danielle's eyes lit up at the sight of him and instantly she strode toward us.
"Morning." Danielle greeted Chase, her eyes focused on his eyes.
I glared at her for ignoring my presence. "Do you mind if I have a word with you?" She snarled spitefully, "I promise I won't keep him away for you for too long Vienna."
Before he had a chance to reply, she caught hold of him and dragged him away by his wrist. The nerve on that girl!I started a conversation with Maddy about pancakes or something random, but mind my mind was on Chase. Why did Danielle have to talk to him? What could she possibly talk to him about?
Doubting thoughts raced through my head, even though I tried to push them to the back of my mind.
'Go away.' I thought to them.
'They could be doing anything...' The thoughts hissed in reply.
'I'm ignoring you, he would never do anything like that.'
'We're just trying to look out for you, you don't know him...'Ten minutes had passed, the thoughts had gotten the better of me and I began to wonder where Chase had got to. I excused myself from my friends and wandered around the buildings.
I reached where Chase had talked to me yesterday, giving me the choice of whether our relationship was on or off. I finally turned the corner slowly and saw Chase turned away from me. They were barely talking, more of standing there in an absence of words.
Danielle's eyes flickered in my direction and she noticed me out of the corner of her eye. Chase went to turn around. "I'd rather get back to my girlfriend I'm so done with-"
Danielle's hand violently grasped the material of his t-shirt. He stopped dead.
"Let go." He growled.
"Just wait." Her lips formed a smirk, her eyes momentarily falling on me, checking if I was still there. She gazed into his eyes for a second and then licked her lips. Before he could struggle free or leave she yanked him forward. Sealing their lips into a lingering kiss.
