> Background
Formation Pale As Dead were originally composed of Crisostomo "Chico" Chavez, Clark Sullivan, Warren Amore, and Max Uy from Miwako Gakuen. Previously a cover band going by the name "The Insecticide" due to being fans of The Beatles before getting signed to a label, Pale As Dead's early gigs were mostly on-campus events in Miwako Gakuen like the school's annual festival. They also played frequently at local bars in the area. They later recruited Paris Abrell, Shiloh "Shishi" Dominguez, and Kyoya "Kyo" Matsuoka of the band Vandalics in late 2008, after Uy had left the band. Amore left his role as the band's drummer to Dominguez and started to manage the band instead. The original members of the band discovered Vandalics after the latter had won a Battle Of The Bands in their school in December 2008. In 2009, while in a hiatus, they worked on their style and recorded their demo which landed them a two-album deal with Berserker Noise. The band released their first EP on February 14, 2010, called Paksa.
Career The debut record was a massive success for the band which earned them recognition from already established bands in the scene, dubbing them as the pacesetters of the new generation of rock. Paksa EP produced hits like Paksa and Padayon. Their first music video, performing Paksa, won as the Best Music Video for the 2010 Musika ng Pinoy Awards. Their first studio album, Tagubtob, released in January 2012, has been widely regarded as the trendsetter of the decade for other new and aspiring bands.
To celebrate the anniversary of their first release, the band has been known to do an "anniversary gig" every February 14 of the year at the local bars where they played at the start of their career.
