I didn't wake up because I wanted to. No, I woke up because someone, Jackson, thought it was a good idea to go walking since it had stopped raining.
He wouldn't even let me get dressed or anything.
"Come on before everyone wakes up." He whispered to me as a dragged myself to the back door.
"It's early and I didn't go to bed until late. Technically it was early but whatever! I'm also in shorts and a t-shirt. With no make up and my hair a mess." I groaned.
He chuckled and tossed me, my flip flops.
"Where are you taking me anyways?" I asked as I slipped on the flip flops.
"To the lake out back. When it's not raining and we don't feel like driving to the beach or the town, we hang out there." He opened the door.
And immediately I see dewey grass, and I'm wearing flip flops. This is going to be awesome.
Did you catch my sarcasm?
I groaned and it only made him laugh.
"It'll be fine. I wanted to be the one who showed you our little hang out. So, yeah... I had to wake you up. Sorry."
"It's okay. I'll live." He smiled. And under my breath I whispered "hopefully."
He shook his head and walked out the door.
Oops, he heard me.When I stepped outside I noticed something.
"Why is it chilly when it's June?" It was possibly a good 70 degrees. It was also cloudy and windy. Fall weather.
He smiled at me, "After it rains it gets kinda chilly." I nodded. At least if wasn't humid.
When we walked down the 'meadow' we made it to some scattered trees. And I could see a beautiful lake. It reflected the trees, and it was super clear looking.
As we got closer I noticed a dock off to the side. And a tree near the dock had a tire swing, and wood plank swing. It was my childhood swings.
"Wow." I whispered.
"When Sally moved here she brought these swings. I'm guessing they were yours. Every month we would come down here and had a picnic. The whole neighborhood. We still do." He walked me to the dock.
"It's so pretty." It was. I couldn't believe it.
"How about we tell each other about ourselves. So we aren't complete strangers. I'll start." He sat at the edge of the dock. And I sat next to him.
A Little close, but whatever.
"Not sure how much Derek told you. So I'm going to start with the basics. My favorite color is Green. But no regular green, it's more of like rivery green."
I laughed but it soon turned into yawn. "Mine is a pale pink." I rubbed my eyes.
He chuckled at me being sleepy. "You weren't kidding about not going to bed till late, huh?" I nodded.
"I want to show you my favorite place in town later. It's a ice cream shop across the place where Cole and Derek work. And next to the place Sally owns. And it's right down the street from the beach. I always went there when I was a kid."
I was slowly nodding off. "That's sounds nice." I leaned my head against his shoulder.
He laughed. And I could feel the vibration of the laugh , it made me giggle,
I yawned and looked up at him. He yawned also. Guess yawns are contagious. "I would like to show you my favorite place but that is miles away. States away even." I whispered. I was really exhausted.
"What is it?"
"A river. A river, when I was a kid acted it was from bridge to terirbetha. I love that movie." He slowly leaned back so our backs are against the dock.
"Look what you have done. I am tired now." I looked up at him and saw him close his eyes. His arm wrapped around my shoulders.
Slowly I fell asleep.
"Shhh, you idiot. Don't scare them. Look how peaceful they look." A small voice said.
"But we are supposed to go into town. We need to wake them." A different person said. That didn't seem to happy. I wonder why?
"You heard Emily. Shut up." Cole?
"I did not say shut up! I said shh. Get your facts straight big brother." She huffed.
"Hmm?" Someone groaned.
"Look he's alive!" Definitely Cole.
I sat up and so did, Jackson?
Guess we did fall asleep."Rose! You must be cold." Little Emily run up to me with a jacket.
"Thanks." She hugged me and smiled.
"What are y'all doing out here anyways?" Jackson asked.
"We made plans to head into town. Remember?" Derek seemed cold today.
I guess he saw my confusion. "I don't like having my plans pushed back." He said.
Jackson got up and handed me his hand.
When I got up Emily dragged me to the house to get dressed. The only thing I heard from the guys were "What the hell Jackson?" From Derek.
