30 minutes past before the guy showed up.

Derek, Alexia, Kylie and I were the only ones who went outside.

"Hey. You called about the bugs?" He asked. He was probably in his late 30's. Big dude with a cigarette sticking out of his mouth.

Alexia and I cringed.

"Yeah. How long do you think it will take?" Derek asked.

"Well, I'm going to do a sweep first. And that might take like an hour and a half. Then I will come back next week." He said.

Derek nodded. Kylie spoke up "How much will it be?"

He looked up and tossed his cigarette into the curb.

"Don't know yet. But I already contacted Sally. She's paying so I guess I'll tell her once I find out." We all nodded.

"Oh how rude of me. My name is James." The man, James said.

"Bourne?" I asked.

Alexia shook her head, "Thought it was Bond."

I nodded. "Yeah it is."

James laughed. Derek shook his hands. "Derek. Nice to meet you."

We left James there and went to the beach. Everyone was excited even though we weren't swimming.

"Nobody is going to be there." Alexia said. The girls piled up in her car and the boys rode in the truck.

Rebecca had to stay behind though because of her work. But she said she will meet up with us later.

"So Rose, you and Derek?" Kylie said from upfront.

"What?" I asked.

"You know. You do like him don't you?" She asked. Her southern accent showing.

"No. We are just friends."

She shook her head and laughed. "Sure. I see the way he looks at you."
Before I could say anything Alexia chipped in.

"It's a good thing you aren't a thing. Because you and Jackson belong together. Agh. It's adorable." She sounded so enthusiastic about it. She almost sounded like a fan girl.

"No. We are also just friends." I stated calming.

Emily was listening to our conversation and smiled along.

"Emily sweetheart, who do you think fits well with dear Rose here." Alexia said.

Kylie laughed. "You are involving a 7 year old?"

Alexia nodded. Kylie shrugged.

"Derek. He is the nicest." Emily said.

Kylie giggled. "See the child agrees with the right side."

Alexia and Kylie argues up front for a while as I sat with Emily laughing.

When we finally made it everyone went straight towards the ocean.

There were a couple of people but not a lot. It was still kinda chilly for June but hey. I'm not one to judge.

Derek, Kylie, Emily and Cole decide to play beach volleyball. Alexia went to collect seashells.

And me and Jackson.... Sat watching them.

"Sorry about earlier." He whispered. We were really close again.

"What do you mean?"

He looked towards them playing beach volleyball. "When I fell asleep next to you."

I laughed. "It was more like I fell asleep on your arm. And you ended up sleeping as well. So you have no reason to be sorry." It was so beautiful and peaceful here.

"Derek likes you. He really does. But he has a girlfriend and it's a crazy relationship, so he's not thinking straight." I looked at him.

He was avoiding eye contact and was stroking the sand.

"And I know you have only been here for a few days. But I like you too." He mumbled the last part.

I stayed silent.
This is awkward.

I looked towards the beach volleyball court. Derek and Em scored a point and he picked her up and swung her around.

Cole sat in the sand defeated. Kylie stood there not looking to pleased with Cole. And I could faintly hear her yell at him for not moving fast enough.

All of the sudden Cole grabbed her legs and she fell into the sand. At first I thought she was going to yell at him some more.

She sat up and tossed dirt at him and laughed.

"I know you don't have the same feelings and its okay. I get it. But I don't want to ruin our new friendship."

I sighed. "I really don't care. You may never know." I layer down on the sand and turned to look at him.
"I might actually start liking y'all back."

Even though I might have a small crush on you two already.

He laughed. "Yeah maybe."

I sat up. "You have sand all over your back. Here I got it." We stood up and I turned around.

He started brushing off all the sand of my clothing. He accidentally went to low.

"I am so sorry!" He yelled.

"You touched my butt." I said in disbelief.

He nodded. Guilt written all over his face.

"It's okay." I said taking in a deep breath.

"I really didn't mean to. I swear. Oh my God I am a terrible friend. Goodness. Rose I am so sorry." He kept rambling on.

He started getting annoying.

I'm never going to do this again so why not.

I stood on my tippy toes and kissed him. For one second. He stopped talking, totally shocked.

"Now shut up. And let's go play some beach volleyball." That was the bravest thing I have every done.

"Wow. What did you do that for?" He asked as we walked to the court.

"You wouldn't shut up. And I was being stupid. Don't tell anyone or I will get Minnie to claw you!" I threaten.

He chuckled. "Maybe you already have feeling for me."

"No. I just wanted you to shut up." I said blushing.

"Sure. And trust me. That kiss is going to be our little secret." He said wrapping his arm around me.

I tried shrugging it off but he kept it there.
