I was never to fond of planes. Yet I loved traveling.
But being in the plane for half the day just to go to a place I didn't want to go, frustrated me.

So now I am sitting on a bench, waiting for my mother's cousin to come pick me up.

30 freaking minutes. I looked terrible and exhausted. I could just feel myself getting sick.

My phone was almost dead. So I couldn't talk to any of my friends. Or listen to music.

I was starved also. I hadn't eaten anything all day or yesterday because I felt like I would puke on the plane.

I leaned back and closed my eyes and breathed in slowly.

The sun decided it wanted to make me into a human cake , it was so hot out here.

It was a small airport. There was only like thirty people on my plane. Most just business men and women. So I was the only one sitting out here. A blue suitcase and a matching duffle bag.

I opened my eyes and looked around at my surroundings. This place was beautiful.

My feet were killing me. Who is going to care if I slip off my sandals?

I smiled as I leaned down to unbuckle them. I slipped them off and sat them ontop of my suitcase.

I sighed in relief as I wiggled my toes.

"Are you Rose?" A voice asked, startling me.

I looked towards the voice.
It was a guy, who I'm guessing is my age, in a light blue pickup.

I nodded. "Yeah. Who are you?"

He stared at me like he was sizing me up. He smiled, "I'm Derek. Miss. Sally told me to 'Pick up Rose at the airport at 2 pm." He said scratching his neck.

"It's 2:30."I said.

"I know. I'm sorry. I was at the shop, and didn't get her text till after I left." He explained.

I held up my pointer finger. "Hang on. I'm not getting in a truck with a stranger. Can I borrow you phone?"

He nodded and got of the truck holding his phone in front of him.

I grabbed. "Thanks. I just need to call Sally real quick."

He nodded with a grin that made me blush. Why the hell am I blushing?

"Hello? Derek?" I heard a ladies voice that I recognized almost immediately.

I was about to say something when she started speaking. "Have you gotten Rose? You should already be here."

"Hi Aunt Sally." I said smiling. Yes, I call her aunt. It is to confusing to call her anything else.

"Oh my god! Rose! Where are you?" She asked.
She sounded like an excited child.
"I'm at the airport with your little helper."

She laughed. "I'm guessing you mean Derek."

Derek raised an eyebrow as I laughed. "Yes ma'am. I just wanted to check and make sure that I wasn't getting in a truck with a kidnapper." I said. Glancing over at him as he lifted my stuff into the bed of the truck.

"Oh okay sweetie. I got to go. I'm still preparing for your arrival at the house. It's been forever since you visited. Well bye." She said.

"Bye." And I hung up.

"Here." Derek held out my sandals.

I grabbed them. Really not wanting to put them back on.

I handed him his phone. "Here. Thanks."

As he grabbed his phone our fingers brushed against each other's.

"No problem." He smiled.

He put his phone in his pocket and walked over to the truck. I went back to the bench to put my sandals back on.

He opened the passenger door. "Lady Rose, your chariot awaits."

I walked up to the truck. One foot is only partially in, so I looked like I was limping.

Amazing first impression, Rose. What are you going to do next? Do another stupid thing, that makes you look stupid.

"Why thank you, my kind sir." I was trying to keep the straightest face.
I couldn't. A small smile broke out on my face.

As I sat down on the sit and closed the door, he went to the other side to get in.

Then, the ac came on.

I gave a content sigh and leaned back on the seat. "I love technology." I sighed out.

Derek laughed. "You would guess that you were in a desert for your entire life."

"It feels like it." I said. I turned my head towards him and smiled. "If you weren't late, I might actually not be dying from heat stroke." I said teasingly.

He groaned. "I'm sorry. Miss. Sally is never going to let me down for this." He said.

I laughed. "Don't worry. She's old. She'll forget it."

"She's not that old."

"Well she is old to me."

He smiled and shook his head and started pulling out of the airport.

For a couple of minutes it was silence.

Then "You want a drink?"
