I called Derek and asked if he could drop me off at Alexia's. At first he didn't answer but said yes any ways.
We had small talk for most of the ride. I was still confused on what he was mad at.
I couldn't stop coughing. Non stop.He looked at me worriedly. "Are you okay?" He asked.
I nodded and got another cough drop.
"Yeah, like a said the other day. I get sick a lot. It's funny though, I just got over a hungover and a cold." I laughed looking out the window. He looked confused. "What do you mean hungover?" Oh thats right, he doesn't know I had a hungover.
"Rebecca made me drink. And I had a lot." I said.
Another cough.
"Oh. What happened that night?"
I shrugged and coughed again. "Drinking, some touchy prick, running to Sally's, hurting my ankle, and finally Jackson carrying me to warmth." I said hugging my elbows.
"So you and him didn't-?" He said, clearly not wanting to say 'hook up.'
I giggled. "No." He sighed in relief.
After a few minutes of silence and coughing we finally got there.
"Thank you so much." I said. Getting out.
He smiled. The first one since the day before the party.
"No problem. If you need anything call me. Also before you leave call me so I can get here in time."We waved goodbye and he drove off.
As I rounded the house corner I saw Alexia smoking.
I shook my head and walked over to her and snatched it out of her hands.
She looked startled. "What?"
I threw the cigarette. "If what you told me was true then you shouldn't be smoking." I crossed my arms.
She grinned. "I'm sorry Mom. And anyways it could possible not be true."
I shook my head. "But if it is it could be harmful. Scratch that it is harmful."
"Oh look at you, being all careful for my mistake."
I got angry. "Don't say that! What is a mistake is you and that guy! Not the baby!" I yelled.
She looked at her feet. "I know. I just don't know how I'm going to break this to my parents. I'm the middle child. Everyone is successful except me. Now I'm pregnant." She started crying.
I pulled her into a hug. "It's going to be okay. You have all of us here with you." As I finished the sentence I started coughing again.
"You weren't kidding when you said you were sick." She said grinning.
I nodded. "At least it's not to bad."
"Come on. I want you to meet my little brother." She lead me into her house.
"My parents aren't home. They are on a date." She said when she noticed me looking around.
"Hey Lex." Two boys came out of a room.
"Hey Brody. Cooper did mom say you could have friends over?" She said smiling at the boys standing in front of us.
The brown haired one nodded. "Yeah, did she say you could have a friend over?" He asked.
"Nope. But she isn't here is she?" She lead me down a hallway.
I smiled as she sat on her bed pulling her computer out. "My brother is sweet but obnoxious."
I laughed and started coughing again.
"Dang girl. Do you need to get that checked out?" She asked. I shook my head.
"No, it should be fine." I said.
She mumbled a whatever and started bouncing on her bed.
There is the Alexia I know.
"I already got a doctors appointment. And I found this really cute shop online for babies. Check it out." She handed me her laptop and we scrolled through all the pages.
After an hour or so I had to leave. "Bye Alexia." I yelled.
She yelled back a bye.
Derek was sitting there waiting for me with a smile. "How did everything go?"
I buckled my seat belt. "Everything went fine."
"What's wrong with her?" He asked.
I shrugged and he groaned. But thought against asking me about it.
Smart boy.
