After dinner was when I was going to meet the neighbors of my aunt.

And I look absolutely terrible.
As I finished my plate a started heading towards the sink. Everyone else has finished except Emily. And we basically were talking about cats and flowers.

Emily still sat there chatting away. Not to me. But to Minnie.

Apparently Minnie was a stray kitten when they found her half a year ago. And was the only living thing she could talk to without them interrupting.

After I washed off my plate I headed to the living room.

Sally and Derek were watching Avengers.

I stood in the doorway. "I'm going to... Um, change." I said.

"Okay." Derek looked over at me.

"Where are you two going?" Sally asked.

"I'm showing Rose around the neighborhood." Derek grabbed the remote and started flipping through channels.

"Oh? How nice! Can you two do me a huge favor? Cole was supposed to pick up Emily. But, Derek you know how he can be. Can you please take her home? If Cole is not there, I'll just let her spend the night her again. Or if he will let her, ask if she can spend the night. Just let her get her stuff."

"Yeah no problem." Derek said.

"I guess I'll hurry." I said and ran upstairs.

I got dressed in jeans, a black tank top and a super thin grey hoodie. A brushed my dirty blonde hair

I walked over to my phone and checked my messages.

13 new messages. Wow.

5 from my friend saying she already misses me, and that she just found a bird in her closet.

6 from my parents saying they hope I have a great time. Also to text them when I can.And too stay off my phone.
Kinda contradicting themselves, aren't they?
And the last and most recent one. From Him. I deleted it without looking.

"Jackass can't even let me enjoy my summer." I whispered to myself.

Don't you dare cry! You idiot! He doesn't even love you, he never did get over it! Enjoy your summer.

"Knock knock. Ready to go?" Derek's voice said from the other side of the door.

"Yeah. Sorry I took so long." I said walking down the stairs ahead of him.

"Oh it's no problem. Emily didn't want to leave. So it took awhile to convince her." He smiled looking at my face.

I laughed looking away.

"Is everything okay?" He whispered.

I nodded and gave a tight lip smile. "Yeah everything is great."

He kept looking at me. Do I have something on my face? "Okay, let's get going."

Emily was on the swing laughing with Sally.

"Emily let's get going." He said grabbing her hand.

"Okay! Bye Miss. Sally! Bye Minnie!"

When we got to the drive way she stopped.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

She pouted and looked at me. "I don't like mud."

Derek laughed. Looking up into the rainy sky. We all had hoodies on, to keep us from getting soaked.

"Do you want me to carry you?" I asked.

She nodded. "Okay. Come here." I picked her up and sat her on my hip. She weighed like nothing.
