Derek stood there with a confused grin on his face. "You're pregnant?" He asked. Kylie looked at him.

"Yes." She said. So serious that it was confusing.

Derek just nodded and sat next to me and handed me my lemonade.

Kylie looked at my cup, "Its 7, and you are having lemonade?"

I nodded and took a sip. "I don't feel like coffee today."

She gasped. "You, you aren't human!" She faked horror.

Derek chuckled. And I gave a fake evil glare. "Oh no. I guess you figured out my secret! I must eliminate you now." I said in a robot voice. We laughed.

We talked for awhile. I told her about Alexia and they should start a pregnancy club.

When Kylie was talking about how she was excited for her new baby, Derek started playing with the ends of my hair.

He had his arm on the back of my chair for awhile but I guess he subconsciously started playing with my hair.

I acted like nothing was happening, but he then started tracing circles around my back.

Kylie saw it to because she started teasing us and Derek stopped. As we were leaving I made Kylie promise to tell Mason about the baby.

She nodded. "I will. I am just worried about telling Vincent." And she left, to go to work.

Derek and I decided to drive around. We talked about Kylie and Alexia. Hoping everything goes okay.

I was excited about the babies and of course Derek was the downer and said he was not the one who was going to change their diapers. Especially if we babysit them.

"I just can't believe this. I thought this summer was going to be boring. Turned out there is a lot of drama in this town. It feels different. Better even." I said smiling.

He smiled along with me. And for whatever reason I reached down and held his right hand as he drove.

Second brave move I have made all summer.
What am I doing?

He blushed and looked at me and I quickly looked away.

I was going to move my hand but he squeezed it.

I blushed and I turned up the radio and looked out the window.

As we drove around for a few more minutes. And let me tell you, his hand was so warm it felt so good. I never wanted to let go.

When he stopped at a stop light I saw something.

"Free puppies! Need new homes." I read out loud. It was in a dollar store parking lot.

I gasped. I looked at Derek.

He saw the look I was giving him. His eyes widened. "No."

I let go of his hand and put my two hands together in a begging motion. "Please. Let's just look at them." I begged pouting.

He looked over at the lot. Then sighed. "Fine." I squealed. "But, if Sally doesn't like this I'm blaming you." He said.

"Deal." I was so excited. I was basically bouncing in the seat.

He chuckled. As we pulled up into the lot before he could stop the truck all the way I already opened the door.

As I stepped out of the truck Derek was beside be holding my hand. I blushed again.

I never blushed so many times in one day.

As we approached them we saw only one left. A lady was holding another one.

The person, we presumed was the owner, was speaking with her.

As I saw the tiny little baby husky I immediately dropped Derek's hand and ran towards it.

It was laying down but as I came up towards it, it got up and walked towards the edge of the cage.

"You are so cute." I giggled as I stuck my fingers threw the cage and it licked my fingers.

A girl, I'm guessing a little younger than me, opened the cage and handed me the little pup.

As I held it and ran my fingernails across its back and scratching it's ears, Derek spoke with the girl.

"His name is Jax. But you can always rename him. He has had his shots and vaccines. He is playful but can be lazy. And my father over there," she pointed to the man we saw talking to a lady. "He told me that Jax is the only one that didn't depend on his mama."

I held Jax as he wiggled and licked. I was giggling like a maniac.

When we got back into the truck Derek looked at Jax and me.
I had him curled up close to my neck.

He shook his head and started driving.

"What are you going to call him?"
He asked.

I looked at him with a 'duh' face. "Jax of course. That is the name he was given."

"Pet store?"

I nodded. "Pet store."

As we got to the pet store Derek tried holding my hand again but I pulled my hand away and held Jax.

Derek mumbled something and I smiled.

"You're jealous!" I exclaimed.

Derek shook his head and grabbed a buggy.

"Of what? A mutt? Seriously Rose?"

I gasped and covered Jax's ears. "Don't call him a mutt. And if you aren't jealous then you won't mind if I ditch you to go to the park with Jax after this?"

Derek shook his head and walked to the dog aisle. "Whatever Rose."
He mumbled.

I giggled and walked down the aisle holding Jax close to me and picking up stuff I thought he might need.

Derek was being resemble and getting a black collar and a custom name tag that was a cute little circle. It's said Jax on the front and on the back it said Guess. Because why not? We even put both our phone numbers.

We got a leash and a soft dog bed. I picked up doggy pads, the stuff that you teach pups to pee on.

Derek was getting good, big dog food bags. He was stumped on what kind but soon picked a good one.

He even got a brush, dog shampoo and dog perfume. Yeah that's a thing.

I got two cute dog bowls and treats.

When we walked up to the cash register  the woman looked at us funny.

As we were leaving a slipped his collar on and walked out. As we put stuff up Jax was barking. And it was so cute.

As we started heading back to Sally's, he fell asleep in my lap. And I stroked his soft puppy fur.

I leaned my head against the back of the seat. And when I was close to falling asleep Derek held my hand.

This is a great why to fall asleep.
