Recap:
"I just wanted to see for myself the only other fox in this nice little town." I clenched my fist, sensing some kind of threat.
"I was here first, so I would very much appreciate if you got the hell out of my town." I said in a deadly voice.
"Haven't you heard that sharing is caring?" He said amused.
"Haven't you heard that I don't care?" I snapped back.
His smirk widened and he took a step forward, as to make a move on me, expecting me to take a step back, but I didn't. The grip on my knife couldn't possible get any tighter, and the muscles on that hand where starting to hurt, but I stood my ground.
He looked surprised for a moment, but then he smiled in approval at me, before turning on his heels and walking away, shutting the door with a loud bang, leaving me speechless in front of my now closed door.
'What the hell just happened?' I asked confused and relived at the same time after about 15 minutes of staring at the door.
I had no more time to dwell on what had just happened because suddenly the ever so annoying sound of my phone echoed through my odly silent house. I sighed and snapped out of my trance, speed walking towards the phone and grabbing it cautiously, still a little freaked out about the occurrence with that Zack man.
"Hello?" I asked cautiously.
"Ape! Thank god! I've been calling for 10 minutes!-" 'Really? I didn't even noticed.' "- Are you okay? What the hell happened? Who was at your door? Why did you hang up on me?" He asked frenetically, being almost impossible to understand what he was saying.
I felt my heart warm up to his concern tone, but I immediately pushed it away, focusing on calming him down.
"Hey, hey! I'm okay Matt, geez! I can take care of myself!" I asked, with no bitterness or annoyance on my voice, surprisingly.
He sighed in relief and said much more relaxed, but with a little anxiety and curiosity:
"I know you can, sis. Now, answer all my questions." I took a deep breath and made a quick list of his questions, surprised that I even remembered them.
"Okay so, there was a guy at my door and I didn't know him so I wasn't going to talk to him and be on the phone with you at the same time, that would be rude." I said, lying a little.
I just didn't want him to worry. He was being all brotherly like and although I was starting to fall for his new personality (don't tell him that), I didn't want him to freak out and rush his arrival. Not only because he alone meant trouble, but I had a feeling that the girl he was with was going to bring even more trouble.
He was silent for a while, before he spoke again, this time in a serious tone that left no room for argument:
"Honey you're lying. I know you're lying so just cut the crap and tell me the truth." I bit my lip deciding if I would tell him or not but after a few seconds I decided that it was better if he knew.
"His name is Zack. He's a fox, like us." I said, waiting for his reaction. He seemed to be thinking about it for a while before he said hesitantly, a hint of fear running through his voice, making me furrow my eyebrows.
'Matthew is never scared. Ever.' I thought to myself.
He was basically fearless. Sometimes too fearless.
"I-is he tall, with brown hair and blue eyes?" He said. I could sense he wanted the answer to be no, but I didn't lied to him.
"Yes, that's him."
