Recap:
The figure on top of my brother turned towards us, revealing the girl that was currently on top of a confused Matthew, more specifically to my brother, whose eyes widen when he looked into her's, and their breathing completely stopping for a second, before that retched word came our of their mouths.
"Mate." Was the only sound that was heard, even though it was barely a whisper, his and Mary's voice was the only thing I hear before blacking out, the blows I had taken to the head now making their presence painfully known.
I felt a finger being persistently but not particularly urgently jabbed into my ribs, poking me in order to pull me back from the darkness that I had been unconsciously surrounded by for a time that I was yet to determinate. I let out a groan and tried to slap the hand away with a slow and barely controlled movement, shutting my eyes tightly before slowly opening then, starting to be aware of the horrible unidentifiable music that was summed to the repetitive beat behind it that was loudly playing in a nearby location. I sat up faster than I intended to, the past recent events suddenly rushing to me, and while I meant to start looking around for my brothers and Mary, a splitting headache suddenly exploded on my head, making a noise that was somewhat between a groan and a cry leave my lips, lifting one of my hands to grab my head, shutting my eyes again before I got the chance to look at anyone or anything.
"Welcome back to the land of the living, sister." Said a relieved voice that I was surprisingly happy to hear.
I opened my eyelids again, moving not a single muscle besides the ones I necessarily needed to. My gaze focused after a few seconds on my brother's beat up face, but not the one he had just before I gave in to my injuries. He looked as if on the moments that followed the one where I blacked out and left my brother under Mary's confused and erratic body, his hole body had been slammed into a cement wall time and time over, with special attention payed to his face, that made me almost flinch at the sight of it, thinking how lucky he was in having a far superior healing rate than anyone, because if that was not the case, I was sure he would either require years and years of recovery or a really competent plastic surgeon.
"Looks like someone dropped a piano on you. Or ten." I said in a tired voice scanning his beaten and bloodied body, worry flooding my head as I stared at the oddly twisted leg that my brother held with his right hand, the other one was presumably the one he had used to poke me to a state of consciousness, but he had now just used to pull me closer to him, making me rest my head on his chest, allowing me to feel his chest vibrating as a small chuckle left his lips, but was interrupted by a violent cough that sent small drops of blood flying out of his mouth. I placed a hand on his chest and other around his torso, trying to comfort him as he practically coughed his lungs out as well as trying to lower the amount of worry I felt by seeing my brother in such state.
"What happened?" I asked in a low voice, hushed my the fact that my face was against his chest.
"Well, let's just say our loving brother didn't took it too well when he found out I had already slept with his apparent mate ." He said with a hint of sarcasm, the last word coming out of his mouth almost in a tone that could almost be mistaken for mockery, but I could easily see the bitterness that it was laced with.
I pursed my lips into a thin line, imagining what had been my oldest brother's expression upon realizing his own brother had laid with his destined one while he hadn't had that pleasure (I assume). I cringed at the thought, deeming it much to terrifying for me to have on my mind, feelings a chill running through my spine as I did so. Thank God I had not been awake to see it, for I am afraid my protective instincts wouldn't be so quick to show themselves in the presence of my brother in that spirit.
