"Yes, I do want it." I said, feeling strange for saying the words that carried the meaning they did out loud.
"But I am not familiar with the way Alphas run Packs now, so you would have to teach me. And only after school ends, for I have enough on my plate right now, but after, when you have that announcement ceremony you said you would have. (A/N: Chapter 15- Mate Bond, the ceremony where he would be officially announced as Alpha and would clear Red's name) I'll deal with my brothers meanwhile." I finished trying to appear confident on the prospect of sitting down with my now mated brothers and tell them why their existence was a bother to everyone but the ones that couldn't hate them due to an unbreakable bond created by some higher power. Great.
"Also, you must know one condition that I demand of you if I am to be your Luna." I told him with a steady and firm voice, not missing the slight flinch he made when the word 'demand' left my lips, as I intended him too.
"I will be by your side. As a ruler, not a pet. I will not be the pretty girl you show off to your guest and claim to be most proud to have me as your Luna, because if you were so proud to have me as a Luna, you would make some use of me and not making me your pet tiger. Together we'll be the leaders of this pack and together we'll rule it. I expect to be included in every major decision regarding this pack, just as you are, as well as the same authority and power any Alpha would. You'll be my equal, nothing less, nothing more." I said looking at him, trying to appear calm and professional while I gave him a look as if to dare him to defy me.
I could see thathe was not happy with my condition, and I understood that this was not the way they normally did things, but if a 170 year old could break free from the customs of her time, so could a 19 year old. Also he knew I had more experience dealing with well- life tgan he did and being a fox spirit gave me some advantages in stategy and planning. And of course, he was well aware if how stubborn I was, and he knew that hell would freeze over before I gave this up.
"An Alpha female is that it?" He asked finally, the words feeling foreign to him.
I nodded firmly, waiting for him to make the only possible decision I would accept or destroy everything we had built so far in our relationship.
"There's a problem. The Luna serves a purpose, unlike what you may think. She is meant to be the one to show love and kindness to everyone opposing to the strictness and seriousness the Alpha must lead them with. She is meant to be the peace and safe haven the pack can go to with their personal problems, their concerns. It keeps the pack balanced and safer." He finished calmly, his words not an exuse not to give me what i wanted but an actual problem that was needed to be fixed.
By the end of his speech my face was contorced into a cringe for listening to the unbearably boring and so critically unlike my own person the task he had listed were, and I decided on that moment that I would never, ever submit myself to that dreadful position. I paused for a bit and took in a large breath almost not to laugh at the ridiculous idea of fitting in that roke, before finally speaking, looking up to my mate's eyes who clearly were waiting for me to snap at any given moment, which i would lying if i said it hadn't crossed my mind.
"I understand that it needs a figure such as you described but honestly Ashton, do you really believe I'm the one for that?" He cringed slightly, feeling sorry how misrabke i would be in that position or how miserable everyone else would be if I was, giving me the answer I needed.
"I think that someone else should have that roll, someone who truly has the heart and soul of a Luna, even if wasn't born to be one at all, someone that can connect to people and that is easily likable and that cares a lot for people." I bited my lip, deciding to prospone actually voicing the name of the person I had in mind.
"I'm aware that we also will need an adviser, someone to fill the role of Beta. Someone with experience in wars and security and all those matters." I paused, chewing on my lip to prepare him for what i was about to suggest, not that it was any easier for him than it was for me.
He frowned in confusion, raising an eyebrow in intrigue but distrust for whatever I was trying to suggest, but nevertheless motioned me to continue. I pursed my lips and said my next words slowly and suggestively, hoping he would understand what I was trying to suggest before I had to actually say their names.
"Well I was thinking we could, if they prove to be rational enough and are willing to rise to the position and fulfill it with dedication and responsability, we could find two people to occupy the position of Beta, a male and a female, bonded by the same bond we share, ones that could each one be the person that we need, a calm and loving female, and an intelligent and calculating male. They, with our guiding obviously, would be encharged of the smaller and less relevant business of this pack, like Betas are supposed to be." I finished, waiting to see if he would be willing to agree with such sistem, since it was so different from the one werewolves lived by.
"I know you were considering Derek for the role of Beta but as you must know by his reputation, Cody, his mate, is not the Luna we need." I added quickky with a hint of amusement, trying to imagine the laid back and manerless boy as a Luna.
He raised his eyes in almost panic at the suggestion, making a laugh that was more meant to relieve the tension in the room than anything else escape my throat. After that he turned serious again, probably considering not only if the system I was proposing would work and be accepted but also who could possibly take part in it, his mind searching for the answer he knew I already had.
He seemed to have some idea of what I was thinking- or who more exacly, but nevertheless made the question I was so eager to answer but so dreadful to do so as well.
"Then who would you propose to be the Beta and Beta female of this pack?" He said almost sarcastically, his voice enforcing the seriousness of the positions.
"Not that I have already Agreed with you, because I haven't, but who do have in mind?" He warned right when I was about to say their names.
I stared at him for a while as if to try to anticipate his response, since basically every single idea I had just discussed with him had been nothing but shower thoughts of hypothetical situations that I thought would never come to take place or ways to avoid doing things that I wasn't so keen on doing, like being a Luna, and I hadn't gotten as far as what would my mate's reaction be to them.
"They are opposites really, one is quite literally the imagine of a Luna, for she is kind and friendly and so innocently good that it shocks me that she was paired with someone with so much past, so much pain and so much death in his life. I must tell you that at first one will seem physically unfit for the task and the other mentally unfit for it, but I genuinely believe that they are both as loyal right now as they would be competent for the job, and it should be then to occupy those positions." I finished, meaning every word I said and trying to look more convinced than I actually was, for even though they would be incredibly fit for the role, it wouldn't change the fact that they were not particularly easy to deal with. Well he wasn't.
"Ian and Caroline, I'd like to make them both Betas."
(What do you think guys? Is she being bat shit crazy like usual or could this actually work?
