Liam's POV
As I lead Cody outside, I couldn't help but feel my heart nearly beating out of my chest. Being next to her right at this moment made me feel happy. She made me feel happy.
"So, where do you wanna go?" She asked me, smiling.
I looked back down at her and smiled back," I don't know. How about we go to the park!"
She giggled," Sounds good to m-"
Her sentence was cut off by me grabbing her wrist and nearly pulling her to the park, as we were running I could hear her giggling behind me, making my heart flutter.
When we finally got to the park, I was panting and sweating a lot. But when I looked at Cody, she wasn't even breathing heavy, she was just looking at me biting her lip probably trying to hold back a laugh.
"What the hell? Aren't you out of breath?"
She started laughing that cute laugh that I missed. A lot. "Liam, I go jogging every morning, running from my house to the park isn't really that far." She said, not breaking a smile.
"Wow, I should start jogging with you more often."
We both sat down on the swings sitting next to each other, swinging back and forth slowly with our feet never leaving the ground. It was quiet between the both of us, until she spoke up.
"So um, how are your's and Charlotte's relationship going?" She asked me, not making eye contact with me.
I cleared my throat,"It's going pretty good, I never would have thought I would've ended up with her."
"Yeah, me too." Cody said, almost in a very sassy tone.
"What do you mean?" I asked, turning my head to look at her.
"Well, It's just that, when we were um, d-dating you said that you guys were nothing but really good friends and will ALWAYS be nothing but friends. Remember? When I suspected that you kinda liked her?"
Why was she bringing all this up? I thought we were just supposed hang out as friends, and not talk about our past.
"Um, well yeah I remember that. But you know we can't predict the future Cody, things change over time, Charlotte and I just clicked and we just started dating." I shrugged.
"What the hell Liam!? You told me that two days before we broke up! Were you fucking lying to me? Were you cheating on me that whole time when we were dating? Is that why you guys suddenly clicked because I was now out of the picture?" She suddenly snapped at me.
My mouth slung slightly open at her sudden outburst. I stood up from the swing we were swinging on and looked at her in confusion.
"What the hell is your problem Cody?! Why are you even bringing all of this shit up? This was just supposed to be a day where you and I hang out as friends! Not talk about our past! I'm the one who should be yelling at you! You broke up with me! The day I was actually going to tell you I love you! You never gave me a fucking chance. Do you know how much that hurt me Cody? I woke up the next day feeling like I was alone and I didn't have another half. So don't you go yelling at me when you're the one who actually broke a person. Especially a person who really cared and loved you a lot."
I could tell she was on the verge of crying. Her eyes were sparkly and her bottom lip was pouting a little bit.
She started to shake her head, "Liam, I-I, I just I don't know what to say." She said biting her lip.
"You don't have to say anything. I'm pretty sure the day you said those four words, says it all Cody"
She started to cry, "Liam, p-please do-"
"Anyways, thanks for the day, it was um...different. But I'm going to go home now. I'll see you around." I said, walking away before she grabbed my wrist.
"Liam, I-I'm sorry."
I gently pushed the grip of her hand around my wrist away, leaving her to frown.
I sighed,"Me too."
I finally walked away ignoring her yelling out my name once again. This was nothing I was expecting the day to be like. I think I figured out something today.
No matter how hard we try to hang out, that one topic always just has to push it's way into our conversation, why does that have to happen?
Why can't I just spend a nice day with her without getting into a huge shitty argument about our relationship. Besides, she's that one who caused it.
Although we fight a lot though, I always have a warm feeling in my heart when I'm near her. Do you ever have this feeling when you're trying to move on from someone, but no matter how hard you try you just can't? Well, that's what I'm feeling right now.
I kind of feel bad for making her cry back there, that honestly wasn't any of my intentions, but I was just telling her how she made me feel.
I realized that I was already way passed my house, I don't even remember walking passed it. I cursed under my breath as I looked at my surrounds. Just a few houses down, I spotted Charlott'es house.
I was getting really tired and didn't want to walk my way back, so I headed towards her house.
I stepped up on the stairs that lead to her front door and rang the doorbell. Her car was here, so I knew she was home.
After a few more moments, nobody answered, I rang and knocked on the door multiple times until a very sleepy looking Charlotte opened the door.
"God dammit Liam, what the hell? I was kinda sleeping." She said, running her hand through her hair.
I started to laugh a little bit, "Sorry love, I lost track of where I was when I was walking home so then I just came here because it was closer." I said, inviting myself in.
"Would it be cool if I crashed here for a while? I didn't get any sleep ever since I left this morning." I asked.
"Yeah sure, I don't mind, why weren't you home all this time?" Charlotte asked as we headed upstairs.
I cleared my throat, "I was hanging out with Cody for a bit."
Charlotte's eyes darkened as I said those words, but then went back to normal a second later. "Oh really, what did you guys do?"
I explained everything to her, about us going to the park, her yelling at me, me yelling at her and making her cry. Everything. By the time I was finished, Charlotte's eyes were wide in shock.
"What the hell? Why would she just go off on a rampage like that? That's really stupid." She said, shaking her head, then looking up at me.
She sighed, "I'm sorry Li, I know how much you like her." She said, rubbing my arm.
I gave her a smile, "Don't worry about it. It's totally fine. I'm fine,"
She sent me a smile back, and looked me in the eye,
"Okay, well where do you wanna sleep? Couch or guest room?" She asked me.
"Guest room please." I replied,
"Okay, the bed is already made so you can head on up there. I'll be in my room, If you wake up before me just wake me up." She said, as she walked into her room.
I made my way towards the guest room and instantly lay down on the bed. After a couple minutes, I finally fell asleep.
