Charlott'es POV
I never thought so many words jumbled into one sentence could have such an effect on me. These words weren't persuasive, not gentle or caring, they were hurtful. And all I could feel is the heavy pressure in my heart as I slid my back down my front door, crying so hard that everything became blurry.
If you were to tell me one year ago that Liam would have said such hurtful things to like that to me, or to anyone in this world, I would have laughed in your face. But evidently things changed.
It was a bad idea from day one that I offered to help him get his girlfriend back. I wouldn't have even considered it if I would have known what was going to come from it. I didn't expect to get feelings for him, and I surley didn't expect him to say we can't even be friends anymore.
Everything is so screwed up now, and it's because of me.
I didn't know how long I sat there, the tears stopped a while ago but that didn't stop the constant feeling of my heart getting stabbed over and over again.
I stopped to get a glass of water while going upstairs, and then I remembered what I saw last night. My mom was probably working so I didn't bother looking for her in this quiet house.
I went to go wash my face with cold water to try and get the puffiness of my eyes to go down, while I heard the door downstairs open.
"Charlotte?" My mom shouted.
"Be down in a minute!"
I quickly dried my face and headed downstairs. When I got down, I saw that my mom was taking out boxes with delicious chinease food in it. I mentally did a happy dance in my head.
"You got food?" I asked.
She smiled, "Yeah! Figured we haven't had chinease food in such a long time, so why not right?"
I dryly chuckled, "Yeah I guess.."
She stopped her movements,"Everything alright?"
I huffed out a big sigh, "Um, no not really. Can I ask you something?"
She nodded, "Last night I went in your room to turn off the TV, and I saw a beer bottle next to you...have you been drinking again mom?"
I looked in her eyes, and I didn't see any emotion. It was blank and her face didn't show any emotion either.
My heart started to be faster. "Please tell me I'm wrong"
Silent.
"Mom!!"
She shook her head "No, no, Charlotte I haven't touched any alcohol in so long and I would like to keep it that way."
"Then how do you explain the beer bottle?!" I rose my voice.
"Lower your voice Charlotte. I was just cleaning out my room from...previous drinking. I promise you sweetie, I'm not drinking."
I furrowed my eyebrows while crossing my arms, "You're sure?"
She sent me a small smile, "Im positive."
I shook my head, "Okay...I'm trusting that you're telling the truth."
She groaned, "I feel like your the mom and I'm the daughter here." She joked.
I chuckled, "Well maybe it's better that way."
"Oh shush you, now get a plate and lets eat!" I've never seen her more excited for food.
While we were eating, she was telling me about these two customers at her work were fighting over a scarf and ended up ripping it and each of them having to pay for it. I wasn't really listening, only occasionally nodding my head while looking down at my food.
