Y/N POV:

"Ben! Just wait for me to get my helmet on!" I laughed as my boyfriend chucked me over his shoulder, carrying me out of the door.
"You'll be fine! It's not like I'm gonna crash!" He chuckled, feigning offence.
That was the first mistake. I just left the house without the helmet on. Ben would be careful, right?
No.
We clambered on to the back of the American chopper, my instant thought was one of fear.
"Pleeeeaaaseee be careful!" I wailed.
"I won't hurt you, love," he promised.
Lies.
I clung onto his waist as we sped down the English country roads. This wasn't so bad!
That was the second mistake: letting go of him.
There were no other vehicles on the road so we were fine!
I made my third mistake when we got on a straight road.
"Go faster!" I yelled over the roar of the engine.
And he did.
That's when the truck came speeding towards us.
Ben was quick on the brakes.
A little too quick.
I went flying off the bike, my helmet-less head cracking on the harsh concrete.
That's all I remembered until I woke up to an unbearably bright light.

Danny's POV:

I was curled up in bed when my phone rang.

~phone call~

"Danny! I n-need your he-help!"

Ben? Ben! Calm down and tell me what's wrong!

"It's- it's Y/N!"

What the hell have you done?!

"We were on the motorbike... Th-there was a- a truck! We were going too fast and I- I had to stop! She- she came off the bike..."

Was she wearing a helmet...?

"N-no... I- I said she'd be fine..."

What?!

"I didn't know, Danny!"

Anything could happen, Ben! And it obviously did! Where the fuck are you?

"I- I don't know... it's just a back road!"

Look. Around. What do you see?!

"I- uh- I see... there's a little B&B..."

How far did you get?

"Maybe 20 miles? I- I don't know!"

I know where you are... Look after her until I get there!

~end of phone call~

I'm pretty sure the speed I was going at was beyond illegal, but what did I care? Y/N could be dead because of that boys fuck-witted ideas.
At least I didn't crash.
All I could think was: she could be dead.
I got there in no time at all.
The bike was totalled and Ben was cradling her limp, lifeless body.
"Give her to me. Now!" I hollered.
"Danny, calm down! I've got her..." he whimpered.
"Calm down, Ben? Calm down? How the hell do you expect me to be calm?! You should be breaking down over this! But you're telling ME to be calm?!" I screamed. "I'll ask you again, give her to me... please..." I tried again, as calm as possible.
He just sighed and dragged her over to me.
I ran to meet them half-way and felt her wrist for a pulse.
"Lucky for you, she's alive. You fuck-wit..." I muttered. I kissed her forehead and picked her up, bridal style. "Open the back door," I spat. He just did as he was asked.
I gently placed her fragile form across the back seats. "Now sit in the front..."
He hesitated. I growled, making all the colour drop from his face as he scurried to the passenger seat.
The whole drive to the hospital was quiet, awkward and full of what ifs. 'What if she didn't make it? What if she lost all her memory? What is she suffered brain damage? What if she ends up being paralysed?'
They all had one answer: I'd kill him.
I practically jumped out of the car, leaving it on. Ben had the sense to put the handbrake on.
All I cared about was getting her out of that car, into the hospital and having her walk out, without help and with all her memory intact.
I held her to me and ran into the sterile looking building.
"Help!" It was all I could think to say. It was late at night but I didn't care. She could be dying in my arms and I needed her to be okay.
"Sir, please calm down," a receptionist pleaded. I did my best to cool off, but I couldn't.
"Help her!"
"Sir, please tell us what happened," she pressed.
I explained the idiocy of my bandmate, in heated, disgusted, vivid detail.
I wasn't even there, but I could see it all.
"She wasn't wearing a helmet?!" The lady gasped.
"That's what I've been trying to tell you!" I yelled.
She pulled out her radio and pressed the button.
"I need a gurney! A girl that quite possibly has severe head injuries needs to go to intensive!"
At least SHE seemed concerned. Unlike her crappy boyfriend.
"Can I go with her?" I begged. The lady smiled sadly and shook her head.
"They'll have to do some checks and run some tests on her before anyone can visit," she apologised. "You can sit in the waiting room if you'd like. You look like you need to rest," she observed. I smiled and dragged myself to the seats.
That's when the door opened and Ben came in. I heard the receptionist ask him what the problem was.
HE was the problem. As soon as he said he was with me, her eyes narrowed as she directed him to the same seats that I was occupying.
"Ben, do you realise how fucking stupid you've been? It wasn't even YOUR life you put in danger! It was HERS! You should love her, Ben... I'm not even sure you do!" I couldn't control my outburst. He deserved it. Did he really love her? I didn't know anymore.
"Danny, I don't know if I do love her..." he admitted. I stared at him in disbelief.
"How can you not?! She's fucking perfect! Have you seen how beautiful she is? And her smile! The way she laughs and her eyes light up when she's happy..." I trailed off, realising how creepy I sounded.
"You love her more than I do, man!" He pointed out.
"Doesn't mean you can't look after her, Ben. It's her life, not yours. Look after her," I begged.
"Maybe you'd do a better job..." he sighed.
Just then, I heard the double doors to intensive care open.
"Y/N is stable but she's asleep. If you want to see her, we can only have one visitor at a time," the doctor explained. I couldn't believe that after that crash, she was alive and okay. That was all I cared about.
She was all I cared about.
"Danny, do you want to go in first...?" Ben asked tentatively. I just nodded and practically flew down the hallway to her room.
I almost pulled the door off its hinges entering the sterile room.
The sight of her lead on the pure white bed, unconscious, made me want to cry. She still looked so perfect...
Her vibrant E/C orbs were hidden by her eyelids, adorned with her trademark eyeliner. Her lips looked so kissable in that moment, looking so bright against her pale, cold skin. Her silky H/C hair was spread out in the most beautiful way across the pillow, making everything all the more heart wrenchingly perfect.
Finally pulling myself away from the door way, I stumbled to the chair next to her bed, sat down and held her tiny, cold hands in my large ones.
"Ben is so fucking stupid..." I sighed. I knew she couldn't hear me, so I started to talk to her. "How could he ever put you in danger like that, huh? Why would he ever want to harm someone so perfect? God, I love you... I love the way your eyes sparkle when you're excited about something, your awkwardness whenever you have to talk to new people, how beautiful you are when you cry, your voice when you sing along to our song... why did you have to end up with him...? I wouldn't have landed you here! He did..."
Once I'd calmed down, I felt her hands twitch in mine.
"Ben...?" She groaned.
"No, love, it's Danny," I smiled. Her whole face lit up.
"Danny!" She giggled. She tried to jump up from the bed and hug me, but soon led back down. "Fuck... my head!" She whined. I kissed her forehead and sighed.
"Do you remember what happened...?" I asked, scared that she had amnesia.
"Uh... no... I don't think... hang on! Me and Ben were on... the motorbike..." her face hardened and resembled anger. "He crashed! He told me not to bother with my fucking helmet and he crashed!" She yelled. Thank god she remembered.
"Calm down, sweetheart... You'll hurt yourself!" I tried. She nodded.
"I'm sorry Danny... Hey, could you do me a huge favour...?" She asked, seriously.
"Sure, darling, whatever you want," I smiled.
"Tell Ben it's over. He obviously doesn't care about me like you do..." she sighed.
I smiled at her and got up to leave the room. "I love you, Danny," she giggled as I left.
As I walked to Ben, I couldn't wipe the smile off of my face.
"What did she say, man?" He hurried.
"She uh- she says it's over... sorry dude..." I said, trying my best to sound sorry about it.
"Dude, I knew she was gonna say that! I meant, what did she say to make you smile?" He explained. I looked at him with a face that could only be described as confused.
"She said she loved me," I laughed. I still couldn't believe it.
"Well get your ass back in there and get the girl!" He laughed. I nodded and ran back down to her room.
"Y/N?" I asked. No response.
The poor thing had fallen asleep again, not that I could blame her. "Sleep well, my love. I love you," I sighed. I planted a kiss on her lips before settling down in my chair, waiting for the moment she woke up again. The moment I could 'get the girl'.
