Y/N POV:
"What are you so nervous about? It'll be fun!" Y/B/F yelled from her room, while I got ready in her bathroom.
"He's gonna be there!" I groaned, the memory of our last meeting stinging like a slap to the face.
"Babe, you look great..." she smiled as you walked into her room to see her equally as stunning.
"I don't want to look great!" I whined, wanting to do anything I could to be as unappealing to him as possible.
"It's funny; just a month ago, if you were invited to a party with the promise of his presence, you'd have agreed to attend in a heartbeat. Now, you're scared? What aren't you telling me?" She pressed suspiciously.
It's true, I hadn't told her about the incident that occurred a month before. I hadn't told her that C/N had promised to leave, to let go. I also hadn't told her that I told him it was a good idea. I told him to go.
"It's a long story, and it doesn't end like a Disney movie either..." I sighed. Every little detail, from the look in his E/C eyes to the way his voice trembled caused more pain than if we had continued our strange relationship.
"I'm your best friend! If you can't tell me this, then I can kind of guess how messed up it was," she said, smiling sympathetically. I knew that if I withheld this information, she would have the wrong idea and think that something much worse than the reality of the situation had happened, not that I could really fathom what could be worse that this. I lost my only other true friend. When B/F/N wasn't around, he was my best friend. I told him everything and I loved him dearly.
"Fine, I'll tell you, but only because I love you," I smiled and recanted every little piece of the fragmented puzzle. By the end, tears were threatening to ruin my flawless makeup, as her eyes showed the same. She was the only person that knew how much C/N meant to me, apart from him and myself.
"Oh god I'm so sorry. If I'd have know I would never-"
"Babe, its fine. I should have told you sooner, but I didn't want to think about it anymore. If I told you..." I gestured to my shining eyes, "this would happen!"
We both laughed a little, grabbed our bags and made our way to her car.
"Are you sure you want to go? I mean, we can stay home if you want," she offered.
"No, I'm sure! I'm not gonna spoil your fun because of a decision I made!" I smiled, trying to push back any doubts about this party that lingered in my mind.
She started the car, and we were at the house within minutes. I scanned the front yard for any sign of him, but didn't see him.
"Maybe he didn't show up?" B/F/N suggested, in the hopes to cheer me up. I spotted a familiar face and shook my head.
"He's here."
Chloe... that was her name. She stood outside the house talking to other gorgeous girls and drinking out of red plastic cups.
I walked straight through the house, ignoring any conversation or catcalling anyone tried to throw my way. I pulled a cigarette from the little box in my purse, but struggled to find my lighter, before my guardian angel appeared with both a lighter and a more agreeable substance for the situation.
"Don't worry about paying me back this time, babe. You need this" B/F/N grinned. I happily took the pre-rolled joint from her hand and lit it with the lighter she held out for me.
The taste was refreshing and the lightheaded, dreamlike state hit me almost instantly.
"Suddenly, I wanna get fucking wasted!" I yelled to my companion over the thumping bass of the music playing in the background. She chuckled and grabbed my hand, dragging me to the kitchen.
"Whaddya want? We got beer, we got wines, and we got spirits! Or we could just smoke some more weed?"
Her final offer, paired with a devilish grin won me over.
We shared a look and both said "weed" with a maniacal chuckle.
We stepped outside and lit our joints, though my mind suddenly started to crave for a different sort of high. My friend seemed to sense this as she pulled a little bag filled with white powder from her purse.
"If you've got a note, a card and a flat surface for this, we can go to a bedroom and get really fucked up?" A grin once again spread across her face, and although I was much more skeptical this time, I followed her upstairs, ignoring the feeling that someone was watching me.
Once we got to the top of the stairs, we picked a room with the door slightly ajar, let it creek open and were luckily met with the sight of an empty room. We shut the door, grabbed my phone, my bank card and the only money left if my purse.
I let B/F/N line it all up while I rolled us both a note to sniff from. She announced that she was ready and gave me the honour of first line. Just as I got my note level with the drug, the door swung open, and C/N stood in the doorway, staring, but with no Chloe or anyone else attached to his hip.
C/N looked angry, B/F/N was the personification of tension and I was terrified.
However, instead of letting it show, I locked eyes with him and in an act of defiance, I did the line, not once breaking my gaze.
B/F/N stared in disbelief as I did another, and another. I suddenly started to feel the effects hit me in waves.
I felt nausea as I fought the urge to run to the bathroom, knowing full well that if I tried to go past the giant looming in the door way, I'd be in for more than just an earful. B/F/N looked at me apologetically before quietly excusing herself.
"I hate that I have to keep saying this to you, but what the HELL were you thinking?!" He yelled once we were alone. My head was pounding and the need to vomit was still very present in the back of my mind. Suddenly, that need was no longer in the back of my mind, but in the back of my throat as I abandoned all fear and made a run for it straight past C/N and into the bathroom.
I threw myself next to the bowl, acutely aware of my ex-lovers presence behind me. As I started to wretch, I felt, more than saw, my H/L hair lifted out the way way. C/N stroked my back in soothing circular motions and he told me it would all be okay.
Once my body had expelled all it could, he pulled me up and I was met with more sympathy than disappointment.
Going against the promise he had made to me, he pulled me into his arms and was, once again, my shoulder to cry on when things got fucked up.
"N/N, why did you think that was an okay thing to do? You know you can't handle your drink, let alone hardcore drugs! I've always told you that I don't mind the smoking and the weed, but I thought you'd sworn off coke forever..." he sighed. I joined him in sighing as the realisation washed over me that he was right.
"Why did you make me promise that?" I whispered, suddenly exhausted from the drugs, the vomiting and the overwhelming onslaught of emotion.
"Because, as I told you before, I love you. I will always have a part of me that loves you, and I will always care for you. That's why, when I heard that B/F/N had drugs, I knew I had to find you..."
My heart swelled with joy, but a nagging question popped the balloon of joy in my chest.
"Was it Chloe? Did she tell you?"
"Chloe's here?" He asked, genuinely sounding shocked.
"Wait, you didn't bring her with you?" I asked, genuinely confused.
"No! I- I came alone..." he muttered, realising what he had REALLY just admitted to.
"You came here to check up on me..." I murmured, unable to keep the modest smile from spreading across my lips.
"Yeah... I didn't know what you were gonna do if you only had B/F/N looking after you..."
Everything had suddenly fallen into place in my head.
He knew I was coming because B/F/N had already told him. The only reason she would have told C/N is if she knew what had happened between the two of us. Since I hadn't told her, it was clear that C/N had.
Instead of slapping him for getting involved in my life when he swore he would stay away like I thought I should have, I stepped forward and kissed him.
Maybe it was the drugs, or maybe it was the fact that he had been out of my life for so long. Either way, I missed him.
"You're not mad at me?" He asked after we had separated. I simply shook my head and smiled.
"I should be asking that!" I laughed.
"Well I'm not. Im just glad that I got to see you, even if you were doing something dumb..." he smiled sadly. I knew he wanted to ask me something, I just couldn't work out what.
"Can you forgive me for abandoning you?" He whispered sheepishly, his eyes begging me.
"Yes... I can. I've healed and I've learnt. I know I can safely have you back in my life," I smiled.
"Good because now I'm about to ask you something that's really scary for me..." he admitted, blushing slightly. My stomach filled with butterflies and my heart was beating a mile a minute.
"Can we try and make this official? With labels and everything. I'd be your boyfriend and you'd be my... girlfriend..." his eyes smiled at that word. I had to admit, it made me more that just a little happy to think of him as my boyfriend. I couldn't speak, pent up emotion that had built up for years finally allowed to flow free. Instead, I kissed him, salty tears on both of our tongues. After all these years, he's stopped using me as his backup plan.
Finally, I got to be his first choice.
And, part two! There you go. I think I have like 2 more stories left to put out for you guys, and then I'm going to sleep! Love you all and stay happy! 🦄🦄
