Y/N POV:
I was late to art. Again. Mr Way was gonna be so mad! I ran through the corridors, into lockers and walls on my way to my class room.
I burst through the door, panting, hair stuck down to my forehead by sweat.
"Ahem... Miss L/N? Why were you late THIS time?" Mr Way sighed.
"I-I'm sorry sir... I- I got let out of the last class late..." I stuttered, blushing heavily.
Mr Way wasn't like the other teachers. He stood out. He always wore a blue suit and had bright orange hair. But he was so handsome. His hazel eyes stood out more that any crazy hair colour would, his pale complexion just making them brighter.
"Sit down and get working... okay? I need to talk to you after class anyway..." he muttered. Everyone laughed, assuming I was in trouble, like I always was with all the other teachers.
I scurried to my lonely seat in the corner at the back of the class and yanked my book out of my tatty bag.
I groaned, not knowing what to draw, so pulled out my earphones and plugged them into my ears. I put my playlist on shuffle and my pencil to paper.
I started to sketch out the figure of a girl. She looked like she was standing at first, with her head rolled back. Once it was finished, however, she was hanging from a noose hooked up to her bedroom ceiling. That's how I felt most of the time. Nobody seemed to care, so I had nobody to talk to. I drew my problems away instead.
The hanging girl only took half an hour so I started to draw Mr Ways eyes. They fascinated me, the gold and yellow with flecks of green and brown mixing in to make such a beautiful colour. Not that I ever just stared at his eyes...
Before I knew it, the bell signalling the end of the day rang out through the dreary building. For me, it signalled a talk with my teacher. My crush. Someone who intimidated me without even trying.
I didn't even bother to move. I just sat in my seat, my eyes fixed on the perfect man striding towards me.
I felt the heat creep up to my cheeks again as he pulled up a seat to sit across from me.
"What's wrong?" He asked bluntly, still sounding concerned.
"What? What do you mean?" I replied, confused.
"Give me your book a second, please?" He requested. I pushed it across the table so he could look in it. Only after I did that did I realise what I had drawn that lesson may cause concern and confusion.
"That. That worries me... you wouldn't draw stuff like this without a reason, would you?" He explained, showing me the hanging girl.
"Sir... I-"
"I don't need to know details. I know life at home isn't great, that other students bully you for being different and that even the teachers pick on you. But to me, you're pretty perfect..." He told me, whispering the last part so it was almost inaudible. But I heard him. I smiled a little before looking up and frowning again.
"I just don't get why people hate me, you know?" I whimpered, not meaning to sound so weak. But it did get to me and I usually didn't have anyone to tell. Now was my chance to feel a little better.
"Look, I'm hear when you need to talk, or when you need somewhere to stay at lunch break. I'd rather you didn't have to sit by the bin every lunch," he said.
"How do you know where I sit?" I asked him, still as confused as before.
"I just notice..." he murmured, not sounding too convinced.
"Right..."
"Now, what about this one...?" He asked, smirking. His smirk was so sexy... but he was a teacher and I was a student. Even thinking like that was wrong!
"Which on- ohh..."
His eyes...
"Those are mine, right? They're very good, but how do you know what my eyes look like in such detail...?" He asked, almost grinning now. I blushed and frowned, looking down at my hands.
"They're nice eyes... I like looking at them..." I whispered.
"Is that all? Something distracting you in class. So how can I help? Is it something to do with this?" He pressed, gesturing my drawing.
"N-no... yes... I- I don't know!" I cried, still looking at my hands.
"Hey... Y/N it's ok! Please don't get upset sweetheart..." he practically begged. Him calling me sweetheart made me feel all warm and tingly inside. I blushed again.
"No. It's not ok. You're a teacher!"
"Yeah? And? What's wrong?" He questioned, a smirk rising back to his lips.
"Sir, stop it..." I begged, crying. I wanted to tell him but he'd probably send me to the principal.
"Stop what? Have I upset you? Oh... you're crying... sweetheart what's wrong?" He pushed again. This time, he was completely serious.
With his forefinger and thumb, he took my chin in his hand, forcing me to look up. "Sir please..." I begged again. Why was he doing this?
"No tears..." he said, wiping them away with the pad of his free thumb. He stood up and walked around the table, sitting next to me. "Please, tell me why you're upset. I can't have you crying..." He smiled at me sadly. I just kept crying. He had to be doing this on purpose!
When he didn't get an answer, he pulled my chair closer to his before resting his hand on my upper thigh. I gasped lightly. He was definitely doing all of this to taunt me. "Is it me? Is this what's distracting you...?" He mused quietly, almost like I wasn't there. I sighed lightly before just nodding.
"Sir-"
"Call me Gerard. Please," he told me.
"Ok... Gerard. I like you. A lot. But it's wrong! You're my art teacher..." I sobbed.
"No crying baby... please..."
"Baby...?!" I gasped. Why was he still doing this?! After I told him the truth?!
"Is it not obvious? If a teacher and a student liking each other is wrong, then so be it. I don't care anymore!" He yelled. I jumped in my seat. Was he still messing with me?
"S- Gerard, are you messing with my head...?" I couldn't take anymore lies. No more games.
"No! Why would you... right. It's ok. I get that everyone else in your life has lied to you, or played games. I have trust issues too, but I'm not messing around!" He promised me.
"Prove to me that you're telling me the truth..." I said before I even knew the words were coming.
"My pleasure..." he smirked.
His arms wrapped around my waist as he pulled me into his lap. He stroked my hair with one hand, the other caressing my cheek. I smiled slightly before nodding, telling him it was ok.
One hand moved to the back of my head, the other resting on my hip, stroking it gently. He leaned in slowly, pulling my head towards his at the same time. I allowed my eyes to flutter shut as he connected our lips. He pulled me even closer to him, closing the small gap left between us. I rested my arms on his shoulders and kissed him back, never feeling more complete than in that moment.
All too soon, he pulled away.
"Listen, Y/N, I've liked you for a long time. And I've worried about you. You're so beautiful and I just need you to be ok... I- I love you..."
"G-Gerard!" I gasped, smiling. "I love you too!" I giggled.
"This is so wrong..." he sighed, taking my hand and intertwining our fingers.
"I- I know... that's why I didn't want to tell you how I felt!" I explained.
"I know, angel, I know. But you're in your last year. It doesn't... it doesn't matter," he decided, smiling at me.
"So what... what are we...? I don't..."
"This has to be a secret until you graduate, okay sugar?"
"What has to be a secret? The kiss? I mean sure Gee... I don't have anyone to tell..."
"No, I mean, I want us to be together. If you'd want that too. And if that's how this works out, then it has to be a secret. Please Y/N, be mine," he begged more that asked.
"Yes!" I giggled.
"No telling anyone, okay, baby?" He asked.
"I promise..."
"Just so we're clear: I'm not bumping your grades up just because I love you, okay? Not that you'd need it!" He laughed.
"Gee, I need to get home..." I whispered sadly.
"Come on, I'll give you a ride," he offered. I nodded and took his hand. He drove me home. I couldn't wait for my next art lesson.
