Y/N POV:

It was only hours after John told me the news that I saw George. It had been almost 10 years since I had a chance with him. But finally he left Pattie. After 10 years of happy marriage to a model.
It felt so wrong trying to get him only mere moments after his breakup from the most serious (not most involved, complicated, or even passionate, but most definitely serious) relationship he'd had. So I didn't.
It was much more difficult in action than it was in theory. It was that kind of plan. Just stay away from the subject and everything will be fine. Simple in theory but not in motion.
As soon as I saw him, he smiled the way he always did, with a strange glint that said a thousand things at once. His eyes told me he was sorry, and he cared for me, and how glad he was that he could finally see me, finally hug me again. And I could almost tell that my eyes did the same. He knew.
He started slowly walking towards me, and my feet started to carry me at ten times the speed of the man in front of me. He opened his arms and stopped, catching me and spinning me around after I threw myself into his arms.
"Georgie! It's been so... long..." I felt excited to start with, before realising what I was about to say would mean to him.
"N/N, it's fine. She was controlling. She kept me away from you, my best friend!" Once again I was overjoyed until he said I was his best friend.
It was the worst pain and he had no idea he had done that to me.

George's POV:

It hurt me more than it would ever hurt her just to say she was my best friend. She was so much more. She always had been something more. She used to be... everything.
Then Pattie came along, and I couldn't help myself. She seemed so much happier, so much more stable. However not only did I realise that this was not the case, I realised that it wasn't what I wanted. I wanted HER. I wanted Y/N.
I finally found it in me to let her go, holding on taking less energy than letting go would. I smiled at her again and she smiled back. I almost thought I saw affection in her visage, but as soon as I caught it, it was gone.
"N/N... I- I've missed you..." I sighed, stopping myself from saying the words I always used to say to her.

Flashback (George's POV)

"Honey, come down a second?" I shouted to my beautiful partner, waiting for her to come down. I was dating a model, for sure.
As she came down, she moved her hair from her face and adjusted the skirt of her dress so it wouldn't drag on the stairs. My mouth dropped. I was taking her out to a dinner to propose officially. She had to be mine once and for all, I couldn't lose her again. Never again.
I smiled up at the beautiful woman I wanted to wake up to for the rest of my life and sighed in content.
"Come on then, Georgie! Or do you just want to stay here and gawk at me all night!" She teased, giggling along with me as I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah very funny, beautiful. Okay, Y/N, lets go," I beamed.

End of Flashback (George's POV)

Now I stared at the same woman again, wishing we could go back to that beautiful day, 12 years ago. She was the beautiful one. She was attentive, caring and affectionate. And now I saw that she was the very same stunning girl I fell for so long ago. And I threw it all away.
"Georgie, are you okay? You seem upset," she asked tentatively, reminding me just how much I cared for her. All I did in response was nod. She needed to think I was fine, because I needed her to think that.

Y/N POV:

He wasn't okay. I knew it deep down,  but I didn't press. I couldn't. Because I knew how he felt.
George smiled and took my hand gently in his, ready to say something. Then all of a sudden, his phone started to ring.
"I'm so sorry, I have to take this. It's Paul," he frowned. I just smiled in return.
"It's fine love, you take the call, I don't mind waiting."

George's POV:

I walked towards a small alleyway nearby and answered the call from Paul.

Phone Call:

"George!"
Yeah what's up Macca, kind of in the middle of something important.
"Oh. Right. Y/N. Have ya told her yet?"
No! I was... I was just about to...
"Oh..."
I- I don't know if I can do it, Paul.
"You're George Harrison. She loves you. She always has and she loves you now. More importantly, she wants to hear this from you. She needs you. It's obvious."
R-really...? I guess you're right.
"Thank you. Okay, another thing, we need you at the studio in ten minutes."
Are you fucking kidding me? I'm 15 away where I am and I'm busy!!
"Well you're gonna have to break the speed limit aren't you! Or leave now."
Fine... I'll be there as soon as I can... Bye, Paul.
"Bye George..."

End of Phone-call:

I walked back over to that angel of a woman and groaned.
"Darling I'm so sorry, but I have to go. Paul needs me in the studio..."
She frowned for a moment before flashing me that perfect smile and hugging me tight.
"It's fine, you go. The band is more important," she whispered, still smiling as she pulled away from the hug, though her eyes were watery.
I began to walk away before turning around quickly.
"Y/N!"
She whipped around with hope written across her face.
"Be safe!" I shouted. How stupid!
"Yeah! I will..."
And she proceeded in walking away again.
"Wait, N/N!" I belted again.
"Yeah?"
"I love you!" I practically screamed it at the top of my lungs.
She beamed at me as wide as I'd ever seen a smile be and shouted back;
"I love you!"
And then she began to walk away.

(Later, in the studio with Paul;)

"So, you told her then?" Paul asked confidently.
"Yeah! How did you know...?" George retorted, confused.
"You were never going to leave it alone, even if you had to be in the studio! Telling you that you needed to be here was just a way to scare you into it. And now you're happier than ever. So you can't be mad at me, mate."
Paul sounded nervous and George stayed silent, slowly moving to Paul.
And then-
He enveloped him in a tight hug.
"Thank you," whispered George.

Hey, guys... I'm not sure if you guys are gonna read this or if you'll care, but I don't know if I'll be writing for a while. I'm currently struggling with a really bad state of depression, and self harm urges. I'll be okay, but I think I need to be away for a while. If I stayed here and wrote more, I can promise you it would be depressing as hell 😂. I don't wanna put you guys through potentially triggering oneshots and stuff.
I love you all a lot and I'll be back soon enough. Please stay safe!
Love, Kat 🖤💛🖤
