I tried to edit some of this!!!
John's POV
I couldn't wait for the first day of the new school year for the first time, well, ever. I hope I can get the chance to talk to Aurora again. She might not be my mate, but she is beautiful. Oh, did I forget to mention? I'm a werewolf.
A car honked it's horn outside.
"Bro get in!!" Jack yelled. We had been friends since birth. We had grown up together through our pack. I considered Jack as a brother, that's how close we are. Through the windows of the Jeep I could see the rest of my friends, Drew, Brett, and Chris.
"Coming!" I screamed back through the screen door as I dashed through it.
We were headed to the mall food courts to grab Taco Bell and scope out the new movies coming soon. On the way, a song came on and Jack cranked it up. We all screamed the lyrics the whole way to the mall.
Once we got there, Jack swerved into a spot, narrowly missing a silver Honda. I recognized that car, it belongs to Emily.
"I need tacos," screamed Jack.
"Can we please avoid Emily and get some tacos fast," I whispered, looking around for the she devil. Alright, that assessment isn't fair. Emily was just a tad, clingy. We aren't even mates, so when she acted like we were, I had to break it off. I almost forgot to mention, most people in this town are werewolves.Trying to forget the whole Emily situation, I rushed the boys inside. As my gaze swept over the crowd, I glanced familiar curls. Aurora. I didn't know if I should approach or pretend not to see her so that she could notice me. I decided against marching up because she was with a group of girls, and among them; Emily, just the girl I was trying to avoid. Great, now the ex and the new girl are friends. This doesn't complicate anything at all!
Drew finally noticed Emily and dragged me to the taco line.
"We should avoid going to Baskin Robbins because crazy blonde, nine o'clock," Brett snickered.
"I noticed. Let's just get out of here," I replied.
We sped through the line, but couldn't get out fast enough. In our haste to make it to the car, I hear a familiar high pitched voice exclaim,
"John!!! So good to see you!"
I grimaced and started to turn slowly.
"Emily! You as well," I tried to sound cordial.
"Now if I didn't know any better, I would think you're avoiding your girlfriend!" She exclaimed.
I noticed Aurora's face turn bright pink and frown.
"Remember we broke up a while ago?"
"Keep telling yourself that. I'll see you later." Emily smiled.
"Bye Aurora," I echoed, trying to salvage the situation.
"What's this? You two know each other?" Emily squeaked.
"I just moved in next door," Aurora basically whispered.
"How wonderful!! You two should ride to school together because John has that amazing truck that I used to ride in aaaaaall the time," Emily said.
I tried not to roll my eyes, but the urge was too much. The boys could not pull me away sooner, but was Aurora mad at me?Aurora's POV
The encounter at the mall had been weird. I was confused. Should I go for a relationship with John or follow girl code and be friends with Emily? It was too hard to decide. Why did life have to be so complicated?
The next day, I woke up even more confused. I still had no idea what to do. I brushed the thought from my mind and decided to continue on with my day. What's the worst that could go wrong? Just a regular day with the family.
When I finally reached the bottom stair, I almost let out a gasp of surprise. Standing there was Emily with a huge smile and basket of cookies on her face.
"Aurora!" She screeched.
"What are you doing here?" I seriously could not avoid this girl.
"Just saying hello to your mother! She really is wonderful. I was just letting her know that we're friends!"
"I'm glad to know you've already made a friend this fast Aurora!" Mom exclaimed. "I'll let you two hang out upstairs."
"Come on up," I instructed Emily.
Once in my room, I plopped on a stuffed moving box labeled memories, and sighed. It was great to see Emily, but she had a feeling this conversation was going to be about John.
"Sooooooo...." Emily started, "Since when are you and John a thing?"
I knew it. All these girls must have ulterior motives. I mean what does a girl have to do to get a genuine friend around here?
"Well as I said before... He lives next door and helped me move in."
"It seemed like more from the way he was looking at you..." Emily trailed off.
"I'm not sure if anything is there so you don't have to worry."
"Good because we're destined to be together."
Great. Now I really have to decide.
