John's POV
Last night with Aurora was really fun. We ended up staying in the water and talking on the shore until three in the morning before we decided to head home. On the way, we stopped at an outdoor shower to rinse off so we wouldn't be completely disgusting the next morning. That was quite a fun experience. As we climbed up to the windows of our houses, we silently whispered goodbye. When I finally closed my eyes for sleep, I grinned at that night.
Waking up the next morning was brutal. My alarm went off as usual at six am, shocking me awake. I rolled out of bed, and strolled to the bathroom. I groggily turned the shower on, running my hands through my hair while I tried to wake up. The steamy shower woke me from my half asleep state, and I was finally able to start preparing for the day ahead.
I was running slightly behind schedule as I heard honks from Jack's Jeep outside. My mom was borrowing my truck for the day, and Jack had offered to give me a ride like he did for all the other boys every day. I snapped out of my reverie, grabbed my backpack, and jumped in the car. As Jack started to peel out of the driveway, I noticed Aurora's front door start to open, revealing a slightly disheveled face. I quickly turned to Jack and asked, "Mind if we drive her too?" His response was a mere grunt, as if to say Sure, bro. We pulled up beside Aurora, still rolling as I yelled out to her, "Need a ride?"
She quickly responded, "I'm fine, thank you," with a smile.
"The first period bell is going to ring in 5," I laughed.
"Oh shoot!" She exclaimed, running to the car. "Make room boys," she commanded as Drew and Brett moved over to accommodate her. Everyone stared for a moment before she yelled, "ARE WE GOING OR WHAT??"
Jack laughed and sped to the school.

Aurora's POV
I was absolutely exhausted this morning after last night with John. I had to hurry to rush through my morning routine, and I was still barely making it out the door in time. As I looked to the clock, I realized I would have to run to school to make it on time. All of a sudden, a Jeep blaring music pulled up next to me with John in the passenger seat. "Need a ride?" He asked, and reluctantly I agreed.
I'm slowly starting to regret that decision. John's friend Jack decided to take every sharp turn, speeding at least ten miles over the speed limit. Granted, we were all late for school, but I couldn't help but hold on for dear life.
As we pulled into a prime spot in the parking lot, numerous heads turned as I exited the car with all the boys. I heard various whispers like That new girl... and Who is she doing? I knew how to keep the hurtful words of jealous girls from getting to me, but it still didn't feel good to hear those things to start off my day.
After the incident this morning, my classes flew by in a blur. I was not looking forward to lunch though. After fourth period bell rang, everyone dashed out of the classroom to the cafeteria. It only took seconds for Emily to find me and squeal, "Ror!!!" Again, with the nickname.
I smiled and turned around, returning the greeting. We linked elbows and walked through the doors to the cafeteria, headings towards John's table yet again. As we sat, John looked at me and motioned to his phone. I looked down and heard the ding of a message seconds later.
Meet me outside the caf in 5.
I agreed and waited and he signaled to his friends that he was going outside. A few minutes later, I told the girls that I was headed to my locker, presumably to find something I was missing. As I headed through the doors, I looked around quickly but didn't see anyone. Suddenly, someone grabbed my waist from behind and dragged me into a janitor's closet. I heard the yank on the overhead light's chain, and the bulb flickered, casting a dim light over the small space. John's smile was illuminated by the yellow glow as he whispered a simple, "Hi."
"Hi," I smiled back.
"I've been waiting all day to do this," he breathed as he brushed a stray hair behind my ear. Slowly, he leaned in so that his lips brushed mine. I leaned in closer and wrapped my arms around his head, kissing him back.
About ten minutes later, I emerged from the closet breathless, with my breathing slightly hitched at the back of my throat. I couldn't believe that just happened. What are you doing? I thought to myself.
