"You called" Michael nodded, tousling his hair. He was the first person you called since you had been friends for years. You looked up at him from your spot on your bed.
"I need to tell you something" you whispered. Your voice sounded strained as you held back tears. The faint voices of your parents yelling downstairs was all you heard.
"Go ahead" he urged gently. He crossed the room and sat next to you. Michael wrapped his arm around you pulling you into his side. He could feel you shaking and he instantly knew it wasn't from being cold. Ever since you were kids Michael had always done stuff like this. He gave you his jacket if it was cold out. If someone bullied you in school, he made sure they got what they deserved. You did the same. You gave Michael money for lunch and drove him to school every morning.
"Michael I'm" you stopped yourself, trying to find the right words.
"What is it y/n?" Michael asked softly.
"I'm not normal" you whispered, but Michael heard.
"Y/n what are-" The loud footsteps up the stairs stopped him. You slammed your hand over his mouth in fear of your parents hearing him.
"I hope your happy" your dad screamed. You flinched at the door slamming. Michael looked at you with wide eyes.
"I'm a lesbian" you finally said.
"Then why do you think you're not normal?" He repeated his previous question.
"You heard my parents" you motioned to the door.
"Y/n it doesn't mean you're not normal. It means you're y/n. The smart, talented, funny, beautiful y/n" he smiled.
"Thanks for understanding Michael" you whispered, laying your head on his shoulder.
"Are you gonna be ok tonight?" He asked quietly.
"I guess" you shrugged. Your parents were still yelling.
"Here take my phone tonight. You can listen to all time low on there" he said, dropping his phone on the bed. When you told your parents, they took your phone but you used the house phone to call Michael.
"Your the best" you sighed.
"You're very special don't let anyone make you feel any different" he told you before leaving.
