"Don't come in" y/n warned but that didn't stop her father from pushing her to the side. I instinctively stepped in front of her.
"Tell me where the money is" he demanded.
"You spent it all on alcohol and drugs" y/n yelled the same answer she had already told him.
"I did not" he yelled back.
Y/n left my side. I heard her on the phone in the other room.
"Get out" I ordered.
He looked down at me and laughed before trying to push past me again.
This time I couldn't hold him back. I tried to stop him again but he had reached y/n and slapped the phone out of her hand. She turned to him and threw a punch at his face. As soon as she did though, he placed his hands on her shoulders and pushed her back into the cabinet against the wall. The glass on the door of it shattered around her.
I grabbed her father by his shirt collar and punched him in the face and chest. I heard a cracking sound as I did.
He was off guard for a
second, letting me punch him in the face again.
He fell backwards and landed on the ground, unconscious.
I took a deep breath, my anger subsiding as I saw all the blood surrounding y/n.
"Hey hey baby girl" I placed one of my hands on her cheek, the other resting over one of her hands.
I lifted her up, not even caring about the blood, and carried her out of the house right as a police car and an ambulance pulled up.
The paramedics rushed y/n into the ambulance while the police hauled her father out of the house.
The police asked me a bunch of questions and I gave them the honest answer.
Y/n's father showed up at our house, drunk, thinking we took his money when really he had spent it on alcohol. I couldn't stop thinking about how I had let things get so out of hand. The image of y/n in pain haunted me the whole time I waited for her at the hospital.
It took a while but eventually I was allowed to see her. She was still asleep, which they said was from loss of blood, but I didn't mind.
I couldn't help but think about how all this happened at the worst timing. Christmas Eve.
I was also told by the
doctor that she wouldn't be released for a few days which meant we would be spending Christmas in the hospital this year.
At the light kiss I pressed against her forehead, y/n stirred awake. She winced slightly when I took ahold of her hand.
"Hey sweetheart, how do you feel?" I cautiously brought my hand up to brush the hair off her face. Her eyes shut as I did.
"I'm ok" she murmured.
"Mikey" she turned to look at me, "I want to go home"
"We're actually gonna be here for a few days baby ok?" I asked softly.
"Is my family coming here then?"
Y/n's sister had called to tell me they wouldn't come visit her. She said they 'had' to have their Christmas party.
"No I'm sorry y/n" I answered.
She looked up and I could tell she was trying to hold back the tears.
"C'mere" I sighed, carefully pulling her in for a hug. I felt her tears hitting my neck as she cried.
After a while I moved next to y/n on the bed. She had her eyes closed again and her head against my chest. I laid my head on top of hers and closed my eyes.
"Merry Christmas" I heard someone yell.
I forced my eyes open and saw my mom standing in the room holding a few presents. My dad stood not far behind her.
I lifted my head, still in the position I fell asleep in, and shushed them.
"Y/n is still sleeping" I whispered harshly.
Despite my anger for being woken up, I hugged my mom tightly.
"We figured we'd bring Christmas here since y/n can't be home" she smiled.
"I know this will mean a lot to her. Y/n's family isn't even coming today, she was so upset about it last night" I replied, "I'll wake her up"
"No Michael, we can wait" my father said as he placed his hand on my shoulder.
"She won't mind, she loves Christmas" I chuckled.
I knelt by the bed and started to gently shake her shoulder. It didn't take much to wake her up.
"Merry Christmas" my mom yelled again.
That made y/n smile as she sat up.
"We brought you gifts" my dad said, setting one on the bed.
"We have your gifts at home" y/n laughed.
"Did anyone get me gifts?" I asked, giving my mom puppy dog eyes.
She smiled brightly and handed me one of the presents. We spent the rest of the day opening gifts and watching Christmas movies. My parents even spent the night in the hospital with us.
