"Y/n just calm down" I laughed, grabbing her hand.
"I can't. My parents aren't the most accepting people. They expect everyone to be the same as them" she said, running her other hand through her hair again.
"God you're more nervous than me" I shook my head laughing.
"You're nervous?" She snapped her head towards me.
"Of course. I'm meeting your parents for the first time" I exclaimed.
"I'm sorry I'm being selfish. I didn't even think about how this affects you"
"Listen babe it's ok I understand. Tonight's gonna be a good night, you have nothing to worry about" I smiled, placing my hand on her thigh.
"I just want them to accept you. They've never accepted me. Everything I did, my sister did better. I was just a shadow of her my whole life" she mumbled, taking my hand off her thigh and fiddling with my fingers.
"I know baby" I smiled.
"What?" She smiled.
"I know. You've told me that before and it still breaks my heart to know that's all they ever saw in you because I can see so much more" I glanced at her and smiled.
"I really hope they can see how important you are to me" she whispered.
"That's your house right?" I pointed to what I thought was hers.
"Yes" she laughed.
"What? I've never seen it in the light. I'm so use to sneaking in your window at midnight"
"Shut up" she laughed, slapping my chest. I whined and got out of the car.
"Oh god" she whispered, looking up at the house.
"Y/n" I chuckled placing my hand on her back.
"How are you not worried?" She locked eyes with me.
"Because I don't care if your parents like me or not. I care if you like me" I told her.
"You're in luck cause I love you" she laughed quietly.
"That's all I could ask for, now let's go" I pecked her cheek and lead her up to the door.
"Michael" she tried pulling back but I wouldn't let her.
"Please just relax baby girl you've got nothing to worry about. If your parents don't like me it's not like I'm gonna stop dating you" I pointed out. She sighed and opened the door.
"We're here" she yelled.
"Stop yelling honey" a women said. I was guessing her to be Y/N's mother. I could tell from the way she looked at me that she didn't like me.
"You're Michael?" She questioned.
"Yes mom this is my boyfriend Michael" y/n piped in. She grabbed onto my arm. I smiled moving my arm to around her waist.
"Hello" I held my hand out. She forced a smile and turned on her heel.
"Dinner is ready" she called over her shoulder.
"That went well" Y/n breathed out a laugh.
"I don't think she likes me very much" I chuckled.
"Of course not because your dating me. She doesn't approve of anything I do" she exclaimed.
"Y/n relax" I said sternly.
"I hate this" she sighed, running her hand through her hair again.
"You're staying with me tonight. We can stay up to 3am playing video games" I told her.
"Can't wait" she smiled, pecking my lips. "Want to meet my dad?" She laughed.
"Not really" I admitted, keeping my forehead on hers.
"Y/n get in here" her mom called. She rolled her eyes but went to the kitchen with me trailing behind. Her dad gave me the same look and rolled his eyes.
"This is who you're dating? Didn't we teach you better" he scoffed.
"Actually you didn't. You were too worried making sure Isabel got every little thing she wanted. You don't even know Michael so don't you dare so one bad thing about him" y/n spat. I linked my pointer finger through one of her belt loops, pulling her against me.
"Relax" I whispered in her ear.
"So why is your hair green?" Her dad cleared his throat.
"I don't like my natural hair so I dyed it" I explained. He hummed in response.
"And the tattoos?"
"I wanted them" I shrugged.
"Y/n what is in your hair?" Her dad yelled, standing up. "You actually let this idiot put that garbage in your hair" He motioned to the blue streak I put in her hair.
"Alright alright" I placed my arm in front of y/n and took a protective step forward.
"Don't touch her" he spat.
"I'm her boyfriend" I yelled.
"I'm her father" he shot back.
"Then act like it" I spat. I took her to my house after that. She went to my room while I told my mom what happened and made sure that it was ok that y/n stayed there.
"My mom said hi" I gave y/n a small smile. I knew she was upset with what happened and I wanted to see her smile at least once tonight. I heard her take in a shaky breath as she finally looked at me.
"I can't go home Michael" she whispered "My father was so angry and I'm really sorry about everything he said" she laughed towards the end.
I nodded sitting next to her on the bed. I didn't really know what to say.
"I don't want to go home" Was all she said as her breathing picked up.
"You don't have to. You can stay with me as long as you need" I said quietly "Hey baby girl look at me" I brought my face closer to hers so I could kiss her. "Just breath nothing bad can happen to you here. Your father will cool down tonight and hopefully by tomorrow he won't be so angry. Then we can go back and talk things out" I suggested.
"I can't go back there" she shook her head.
"You're gonna have a panic attack if you don't calm down. Just breath and don't worry about what happened tonight. Everything's gonna work out" I told her while laying down, forcing her with me.
"Focus on me" I whispered against her lips. I traced random shapes and designs on her back trying to get her to calm down enough to fall asleep. I didn't want to think about her parents and I knew y/n didn't want to either. It was something we could work out in the morning.
"Thank you" she breathed out. I nodded kissing the top of her head again.
I stumbled into the kitchen dragging y/n behind me. My mom instantly laughed when she saw us.
"You two looked fantastic" my dad laughed.
"Stop it dad we just woke up" I groaned, sitting at the table.
"And you look fantastic" he repeated.
"Mom" I groaned, hoping she would stop my dad.
"Eat your pancakes Mikey" she chuckled, giving me a plate. I yawned while ripping a piece off. I scrunched up my face when I felt someone flick the side of my head.
"Share" my mom ordered. I smirked, ripping up the other pancake to look like a smiley face. I pushed the plate to y/n laughing quietly.
"Dork" she muttered. I glanced at the clock seeing it was almost 10.
"We better get going" I said, taking Y/N's hand.
We didn't say anything in the car. I held her hand rubbing circles with my thumb and squeezing it every now and then to reassure her.
"Are you ready babe?" I asked, glancing over at her. She closed her eyes and nodded then looked at me. I smiled and pushed the door open. I took her hand again and brought her up to the front door.
"Mom" she called out weakly. Her mom came down the steps and stopped when saw us.
"We wanted to speak with you" she said quietly. She motioned for us to follow her into the kitchen where her father was.
"We'd like to apologize" he started "First to Michael. I'd admit that I didn't like you. But I was judging on looks and that was wrong. I saw how protective you got and I see how much you care about y/n and I want to thank you" he smiled, holding his hand out. I grabbed his hand only to be pulled into a hug. "And to y/n for flipping out about your hair. You're old enough to make your own decisions even if we don't agree" he trailed off.
Y/n sighed but forced a smile. I kept myself from laughing and wrapped my arm around her waist to kiss her.
"Mom" y/n groaned, when she took a picture.
"I'm framing that" she winked.
