Name: Calvin Popovich

Age: 25

Gender: Male

Physical Appearance: Cal is gaunt and pasty-pale. Based on complexion alone, it's obvious he's spent his entire life indoors (zero freckles, zero tan, no sunburn). His eyes are a bluish gray, but extreme near-sightedness demands he wears a pair of thick-rimmed glasses; because the glasses magnify his eyes a great deal, taking the glasses off makes the eyes appear shrunken and deep-set. Cal's hair is dark and disheveled and hides the tops of his ears. He stands at an awkward 5'10". Despite his mom doing his laundry, the clothes he wears still manage to be perpetually wrinkled. The only shirts he owns are fan T-shirts.

Personality: Cal is kind of a loser, and he knows it. He has low motivation to complete any formative task for his future (e.g. taking classes, interviewing for better jobs, making real-life acquaintances). He spends his days manning a Target cash register and his nights playing video games with online friends. Because of these factors and others, Cal has abominably low self-esteem. His sense of humor is at surface level irreverent and sarcastic, yet it relies on the base assumption that he sucks in every way possible. Though Cal wants to do cool real-life things and hang out with cool real-life people, he is trapped by his own anxiety and self-loathing, carrying out the same indoor activities every day despite the disgust he feels for them.

Background: Cal started out as a "bright kid." In elementary and middle school, he completed assignments easily, earning A's without putting in much effort. However, he never devoted himself to extracurriculars long-term; his adventures in tae kwon do, marching band, and quiz bowl lasted less than two years each. When Cal entered high school, the stress of higher-level classes began to affect him, and his performance fell drastically. He would spend time surfing the web or playing video games instead of studying, which would reduce his average grade; he would then play more video games to relieve the resulting stress and cause the cycle to repeat itself. Cal graduated high school with a 2.3 GPA and no aspirations to attend college.

The years since graduation have passed quickly for Cal. Time goes by in a blur, and nothing seems to change; holidays and vacations have lost their appeal, as have the activities Cal once enjoyed. If he were stabbed in an alleyway tomorrow, he probably wouldn't care.

Strengths: In the video games he plays, Cal is an excellent strategist and leader. He makes split-second decisions well and unites his party by encouraging teammates and ensuring they're prepared for campaigns. His reaction time is minuscule.

Weaknesses: Cal has low energy and motivation. In person, he's socially awkward due to his own anxiety about how he will be perceived. He never takes care of his body; sometimes he forgets to eat, and he'll run on as few hours of sleep as possible.
