CHAPTER 12: He's One of Them
.
.
I was glancing nervously between Duan and Zeige as they duked it out in a zombie shooting game. They were side-by-side in one of the booths, weilding red and blue guns, as they shot numerous waves of flesh-eating undead, and then swiftly swishing the gun down to reload.
"So, how long will I have to wait for my turn?" I asked, rocking on my heels, "It's been around 20 minutes already..."
"Not until Duan admits defeat!" Zeige scowled, extending his arms to blast a pouncing undead and then swiveling to the left.
"Please," Duan sarcastically retorted, snorting as he wiped out another line of zombies, "The undead are nothing to me. They fear me!"
I rolled my eyes, checking my watch and then glancing around. I still had around 5 tokens in my pocket so maybe I could kill time (not litterally) with a nearby stall. Fortunately, my eyes landed on a fighting machine, the one with the back to back consoles and two random people could play in it. The game was entitled Ryuukage Rampage, and I'm sure I've heard one of my friends talk about it already. I skipped over to it and sat down, glancing over to the other side.
"Ah, it's been a while since I've seen one of these," Came a raspy voice from a group of trio. The speaker was a lean man with a cap and dark brown shades.
"You think you still have the skills?" Asked the man to his left, the one with a piercing on his right eyebrow and wore a biker attire.
"Well, it'd be okay if you two played, but look," The third man, a hippie with braided brown hair, pointed at me, "There's already someone waiting,"
I waved my hand in defence, "I-it's okay, you can go ahead of me and-"
Glasses guy laughed and then looked at me sternly, "Doesn't matter! Let's play, girly!"
I felt my eyebrow twitch and I shoved in a token. Nobody calls me girly and gets away with it!
Player select. I instinctively chose the "Crimson Wolf", Eclipse Hayi. The other guy took "Flame Lion Alpha" Blaze Kizuki.
And with a randomized selection of tournament grounds and music, we started the skirmish. I wasn't quite used to the Werewolf girl's techniques, but Glasses guy was also the same. I quickly tried all my possible moves, memorizing them quickly, before moving in for the kill.
After a good 4 minutes, "Player 1 wins!"
"Another round!" This time, it was Piercing guy who challenged, shoving the other aside and quickly tapping on another character on the screen. I gave a cold smile and went with the same girl as the round started.
I don't know how long I've been trying to kick Hippie guy's ass, but I do know that I ran out of tokens just now. It's been around 8 games, and my hands and fingers were twitching from too much tapping and turning. Hippie guy was still twirling a lock of hair around his fingers when I shrugged.
"Hey, Jeffy," Zeige called out from behind me.
We all turned to look at the approaching two, and said boys gave me questioning looks. I replied with an accusing glare, "Well, you left me out so these guys helped me kill time!"
"Like what she said," Piercing guy grinned at them.
Zeige raised a brow and then pulled me out of the group, Duan leading us to a less populated part of the arcade.
The moment we stopped, Zeige swiveled me around to face him,"What do you think you were doing hanging around weird guys like that?! They could've easily kidnapped you or something!"
