Imagine being at a party with your best friend Keith. Now, he was completely unaware, but you'd always been absolutely in love with him and too afraid to tell him for fear of losing him and his friendship. But here you were at a party with him, more than a little tipsy, and extraordinarily sick of watching him dance with other girls. You felt your stomach churn as you watched him smile at a pretty brunette who'd been showing him too much attention all night and you had enough.

You slammed your drink down and stormed off out onto the balcony, attempting to hold back the angry tears that threatened to stream from your eyes at any given moment.

Keith's eyes followed you out the door and his smile slowly faded into a worried expression as he slowed his dancing.

"What's the matter?" The girl asked, attempting to pull him closer to her.

"Uhm," he said, slowly pushing her away, "I have to go, sorry."

He looked over the crowd of dancing people to see where you'd gone. He finally spotted the door to the balcony and assumed you'd be there, so he made his way over to the door.

"(Y/n)?" He called as he stepped outside and saw you leaning on the railing.

"What do you want?" You mumbled without turning to him.

He walked over to you and gently set his hand on your shoulder, "What's gotten into you?"

You let out a frustrated sigh, "Keith, it's nothing, just don't worry about it okay? I'm fine, lets just go back inside," you said as you began to walk away.

"Whoa, hey," Keith said as he caught your hand and turned you around to see that your eyes were filled with tears, "you're crying."

"Thanks for noticing," you said as you started to angrily wipe away tears that ran down your cheeks.

"You're being too rough," he said as he took your hand and moved it away from your face, "here, let me."

He began to softly stroke your face, erasing any tears that had previously been there. You sniffled and looked up into his eyes, feeling those butterflies swarm as they usually did when you looked at him. He met your eyes and gave you a sweet smile as he held your face in his hands.

"Now will you tell me what's got you all teary this evening?"

You didn't know what to say. Of course you'd had this moment all planned out in your head, how you'd tell him, what he'd do, but now that it was here, you were speechless.

"(Y/n)?" He said, reminding you that it was now or never.

You quickly got on your toes and pressed your lips to his. He seemed a little taken aback at first, which almost caused you to panic, but you couldn't describe the relief you felt when he wrapped his arms around you and pulled your body closer to his while his lips moved in response against yours. You threw your arms around his neck and he proceeded to spin you around, making you giggle into the kiss. When he set you down again he pulled away to lean his forehead on yours.

"Was that what you needed to tell me, or rather, show me?" He asked with a happy laugh.

You nodded, "I love you," you said without a second thought.

To your surprise he smiled. He reached his hand back up to pet your cheek.

"Well you should've done that ages ago," he whispered, "then we wouldn't've had to go through all that crying, now would we?"

You both laughed and continued to hold each other in a warm embrace.

"I love you too, you know," he said as he leaned back in to meet your lips once again.
