Chapter 23

Derek's POV



I let Vanessa and Dylan take the day off today, I'm glad they're going together.

Dylan told me he was planning a surprise for her, but her didn't tell me. Probably a good thing because even though I'm an alpha, I have soft spots for certain people.

One of those people is Vanessa and no matter what, I feel the need to tell her everything. I guess it's because we've known each other for so long.





Vanessa's POV





Dylan and I finally reached our destination.


It was our forest.

I stood with eyes wide open, my eyes scanning over the familiar setting. Fall was coming soon, the leaves are already turning colors.

The weather was breezy but sunny, sunbeams passing through the tree's canopies.

Dylan took my hand and smiled widely, he knew I remembered our favorite place and took me deeper into it.



After a few minutes, he let go of my hand and stood in front of me. He was going to give me a piggyback ride!

I jumped on his back and he made sure I didn't fall.







We talked about pack stuff, us being in high ranks and all, but overall, being with my brother felt so good. He's the only blood related family member and he meant so much.




All of a sudden, I heard the crisp sound of water. I turned my head, seeing a creek that contained little pebbles and the water was perfectly clear.

Then, not too far way from it, I saw a picnic. It was complete with the basket and the food all laid out. It contained my favorites and his.

I gasped in shock, and hugged my brother really tight.

"You did all this for us?"

"Mainly you. I figured that it's been a while since we've been here and since we've had one on one."

"It's amazing. It's perfect."














Authors note: Sorry I haven't updated in a couple of days! I've been busy with school and what not but I finally got some time to get a chapter for you guys. Sorry it's short. New characters will be introduced soon!
