Chapter 27

Sage's POV





Dylan was amazing. He was handsome, funny, nice, serious when he needs to be, and outgoing. He's everything I've ever wanted and I could never be happier.

His sister had that energy that made you feel what she feels. I don't know how she does it, but Vanessa radiates happiness. It's my favorite thing about her. She claims that I'm her new best friend, I didn't mind and I believed it.

So far, we've talked nonstop and we have so much in common. Our favorite foods, music, clothes, and skills. Later, when I get Ariana, my sister, we'll have a "welcoming all exclusive girls night." Vanessa's words, not mine.

Ariana was seventeen, she is mate less and I plan on taking her in with me since I found Dylan. My job is to protect her, I swore to myself that I would as soon as my father died.










Vanessa's POV





Sage was so nice, she was perfect for my brother. It's almost complete around here, now that everybody is finding their mates.

My heat was getting worse. I kept Jack with me at all times. So he can cool me down with his touch. Soon enough, his touch won't be enough.

Honestly, I scared. Little virgin me had no idea what to do. I'm hoping that the adrenaline would give me at least an instinct on how to do something.

I sighed, then gasped with pain. It was another cramp. Every day became more excruciating. I needed Jack to do something before it's too late. For now, I had to distract myself. I haven't let my wolf out in a while.

She was dying to go for a run. I decided to go and satisfy her. I ran to the edge of the woods, while letting Jack know where I was going.

He reluctantly let me go, and I shifted. It hurt a little, since it's been a couple of weeks. I shook it off and started running, it felt so good. I heard everything: birds, insects shifting and flying around, and leaves rustling in the breeze.

This was home.

I saw a nearby creek, and without hesitating, jumped in. Since I was a big wolf, the water only went up to my shoulders. The water was at least nine feet deep.

It was refreshing, as if all my problems were swept away with one jump. I didn't want to leave.








Derek's POV






A few minutes ago, Dylan and Sage left to go discuss her and her sister coming into my pack. More members were joining these days, I was very happy for my best friend.

I knew he would be my beta when I first met him, and that him and Vanessa would be great fighters. But they're so much more than that. Vanessa's heat is getting stronger, sometimes I can't be around her.

Since I'm unmated, it's hard for me to control myself. To not stroke her perfect face... Or run my fingers in her soft waves. I knew she was off limits and I respect Jack. That's his mate and I wouldn't ever do anything to tear them apart.


You're probably wondering about why I always talk about Vanessa in such a special way. I've been in love with her for years. I just never made a move on her because I knew it'd cause something in the future with our destined mate.

When we were sixteen, I was heartbroken when I found out that she wasn't mine. Although there's nothing I can do about this, what I can do is make sure that she's always safe if Jack isn't there to protect her. Which is unlikely, but whatever the circumstances, I'll be there.
