Chapter 38

Vanessa's POV




Today is the day that I'm going to tell Dylan about the baby. After that, I will announce it to the whole pack.



I was getting bigger now, so people would be suspicious. I'm going on my third month soon, and I have an appointment with the pack doctor tomorrow.

Jack insisted on a female doctor to check up on me and deliver the baby when it comes. He didn't want any males coming near me or his son or daughter.

I will know the gender by tomorrow also. I wanted to get this pregnancy over with. I mean I love the feeling of my baby inside, kicking and moving slightly, but the side effects are terrible.

I moved past throwing up, thank goodness, but the hormones are getting more wild and so are my cravings.

Yesterday I had a sandwich with peanut butter on one side, chocolate frosting on the other, and in between chocolate chips and M&Ms. It was amazing by the way, but not something I would've thought of before.


I'm also eager to learn and control my powers with Jack. When Derek teaches us how to do this, Ariana promised to babysit.

Speaking of her, I really wanted her to find her mate. She seems so lonely and left out because she's surrounded by couples. I wonder what would happen if Derek and her were mates?

Nahhh, they have someone else out there made just for them.

Some people find their mates later in life, but the majority of wolves get them when they're sixteen and in their twenties.

I thought that Jack came at the right age, we're already adults and mature.


Well... I am, he's like a big kid. But he's serious when he needs to be.




I was interrupted by a knock on my door.

"Who is it?"

"Dylan."

"Come in."


He walked in and closed the door.

I turned to look at him,"You okay?"

"You're hiding something."


I laughed inside my head, might as well tell him now.

I smiled and grabbed his hand and walked over to the bed. We sat down and he looked at me suspiciously.

"Okay, Dylan, this a real coincidence since I was coming downstairs to tell you this..."

"Uh-huh."

"I'm telling the pack later too, I just want you, as my twin, to know beforehand."

"What is it?I wanna know." He whined.

I took a deep breath,"You're going to be an uncle."

He stared at me, then my stomach. His eyes kept flickering to the two. He then laid a hand on it and jumped in surprise.

"It kicked me."

I grinned. "Are you happy about the news?"

He looked up,"My protective side is saying kill Jack.."

My eyes widened.

It was his turn to smile,"But I'm saying I'm very happy for him and you and to be the best uncle alive. Not that I have to try though."

I rolled my eyes at his arrogance.

He pulled me into a hug,"See you outside."

"See you."












I took a deep breath, I was on the stage with the pack standing before me. I wore a maxi skirt and a simple flowy top.

Derek was speaking into the microphone, Jack stood next to me with his arm slung around me. Ariana, Sage, and Dylan were behind us.

As high rankers, we were all supposed to be present during pack events and announcements.

".....And our member Jack and Vanessa have some big news to share with us."

I turned my head, Derek was giving our cue. I walked up to the mic, and shared the news.


"As you all know, Jack and I are mates. Recently, some news from the pack doctor and a few changes-"

The pack's eyes widened, in suspense and some putting the pieces together.

Jack finished off the sentence.

"Vanessa is pregnant with my pup and the newest addition to the Silver Twilight Pack."

The crowd roared and clapped and whistled. They were always psyched for new family. We loved each other very much and as I looked around, seeing my mate look down at me smiling, my brother and best friends laughing, and my pack members cheering, I realized how much my life changed in a matter of seven years.

And how much I wanted it to stay the way it was.




But I was in for so much more.
