Chapter 24

Jacks POV






Vanessa and Dylan finally Anne back from their afternoon together. They looked happy and I'm guessing that Dylan's plans were successful.

I helped Derek train the pups today, they were really excited to see me. I hope that one day I'll be having my own with Vanessa.

I sniffed the air, something unfamiliar hung around Vanessa.

I tried again.

Then I got it.


She was already starting the first stages of her heat.

This wasn't supposed to happen so soon, I marked her just last night!

Maybe my predictions about keeping our wolves at ease were wrong. They wanted more of each other, it's Vanessa that I'm worried about though.

Heat will be so painful for her, her pure blood will make it unbearable and I'd have to mate her immediately.

Unmated males were starting to notice her, and I have to keep her on a very tight leash. The last thing I want is someone else but me putting their hands on my mate.






Vanessa's POV






For some reason, Jack seemed to be worried about something and I wanted to know. His training duty was over, and I pulled him into the house and led him into our room.

He raised his eyebrows.

"Yes?"

"What aren't you telling me?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean why you have that faraway look."

"I was thinking."

"About what?"

"About you! Haven't you noticed anything different about yourself?"

"No, not really."

"Any slight pains or cramps?"

"Well, yeah I've been having some all day."


He pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration.


I tried comforting him by giving him a hug. He tensed up, then relaxed, returning the embrace.

He whispered in my ear,"You're starting your heat."











Unknown POV






I've been keeping an eye on their pack. They constantly train for battle, but they won't know what will hit them once they see that I'm not gone.

I've been here watching for a long time, I ruined their lives once and I'll do it again.

You think in talking about the entire pack? No way.

There's only two people that have been on my mind ever since I saw them and tried taking them. They escaped the first time, but those twins better watch their backs.







Because this time, they'll be mine. And they're gonna pay for what they did.
