"Look...look!" Kim practically screamed as she opened the box the UPS man had just delivered, she carefully slid the knife through the tape.

"You're squealing just a tiny bit, baby" Adam laughed as he grabbed a beer from the fridge, "did you buy me a surprise?" He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively.

"Nope!" She pulled open the box and cradled the blanket to her face, "my goodness it's so soft." She stuffed her nose into the fabric, "I love it...what do you think..come feel it Adam!"

He smiled at her enthusiasm, "It's just a blanket babe" he smirked, "I'd rather touch you.." He gave in to her request and ran his fingers over the corner of it, "it's nice" he looked inside the box and grabbed the packing slip, "Holy shit Kim! You paid over a hundred dollars...for a fucking blanket?"

She rolled her eyes at him, "Adam, it's from one of the best boutiques in L.A., it's well worth it"

"It's a blanket" he repeated, "I could get one just as nice for less than twenty dollars."

"No you can't. Plus, it's personalized, see." She held it up so Adam could see Hazel's name skillfully sewn in silky pink letters. "Kristin was raving about this blanket but she said she couldn't spend that much."

"Smart woman" Adam teased, before taking the blanket from Kim and tossing it on the table, "come here..let me love you" he tickled her sides as he peppered her neck with soft kisses.

Standing in their house was almost more than he could bare, he was surprised when he found himself on their doorstep. He had left the hospital in complete devastation and just started walking.

When he left he didn't have a destination in mind, he just wanted out. Out of the hospital...out of the real life nightmare he was currently embroiled in.

As soon as he unlocked the door, it hit him like a freight train. His brother and sister in law were dead, their little girl an orphan.

His father was dead.

He was alone.

Hazel was alone.

He had fallen to his knees in the foyer and hugged them against his chest as he cried, he felt his phone buzzing and it pulled him from his tears, he stood up and checked the caller ID.

Olinsky's name flashed across the screen, he rejected the call and set the phone on the small table in the foyer. He grabbed the framed photo from Kyle and Kristin's wedding their smiling faces felt like a kick to the balls.

Sean was hunched over the table when Kim finally made it to the diner, she was on auto pilot still unable to wrap her head around what Kevin had told her in the locker room.

"Hey, finally. I was starting to worry" Sean stood up and attempted to kiss her, he was a bit surprised when she offered her cheek to him, "you okay?"

She slid into the booth opposite him, "No" she whispered, "I'm not okay.."

Sean closed the menu, "Something happen at work? What's going on, you're white as a sheet"

"It's Adam"

Sean released an audible groan, "What the fuck did he do?" He folded his hands on the table, "I can talk to him...he needs to leave you alone."
