The van was cramped and Adam's constant movements were seriously working over his last nerve.

When he couldn't take it anymore he practically growled, "What the fuck is wrong? You're more annoying than usual, what's up?" Al turned his attention to the passenger seat, they'd been sitting on the property for over five hours now and he was beginning to think it was all for naught.

Adam chewed on his thumbnail, "I'm fine. Just tired, that's all." He really didn't want to get into it, not when he still was trying to wrap his head around it.

"Is it Hazel? How's things on that front?" Al asked, he knew that Adam was trying to dodge his question. He wasn't going to let him.

Adam leaned back against the headrest, "Hazel is good, I've got my first overnight this weekend. It's nothing, O."

Al turned in the seat, "Talk to me. You forget that I know you pretty well and I know something is bothering you."

Adam chuckled, "You know me so well, but I'd rather not talk about it." He sat up in the seat, he'd replayed the night at least a thousand times in the last week. The fact that their schedules didn't align did nothing to help the situation.

"Adam.." Kim whispered as she stood on her toes, and leaned in to brush her lips against his. It was light and fleeting, "I'm sorry" she immediately pulled back, "I'm sorry.."

Adam tried to grab her wrist as she tried to leave the room, "Hey..Kim. Wait, it's alright."

She turned to face him, "It's not, you've got enough to deal with.."

A small voice filled the room, "Adam..." Hazel rubbed the sleep from her eyes, she reached her arms out to him, "I hungry"

It wasn't much of a kiss, but it had left him wanting more. Hazel's ill timed interruption had put an end to the conversation. Both Kim and Adam had been quiet for the rest of the evening neither one quite sure how to discuss what had transpired.

They'd shared a few kisses, but it was always a quick peck on the cheek or a soft kiss on the forehead. The kiss they shared in the kitchen, still made his heart race when he thought back on it, it was simple and sweet.

Kim had quickly pulled back and left him wanting more, then Hazel woke up and they pretended as if it never happened.

Now a week later it was all he could think about and he was desperate to see her, but he was on a stakeout and she was working days.

He was off the for the next three days, he was picking Hazel up the day after tomorrow for his first overnight visit. He wasn't sure he'd get to see her, and it was driving him crazy, he needed to talk to her.

He needed to tell her that he wanted to try again, he needed to try again.

He never stopped loving her and over the last month or so he had seen enough death and heartache to last him a lifetime, he didn't want to go another day without her.

He didn't want to be just her friend, he wanted to be her everything. She was his everything and he knew it was high time he told her.

"Kim kissed me" Adam finally blurted out, "and then she apologized...Hazel woke up and we acted as if nothing happened. But it did happen, and I want it to happen again..."

Adam Ruzek was rambling and it made Al grin, "It's 'bout damn time, what the hell took so long?" He nudged Adam's shoulder, "we've all been waiting for it to happen."

A flash of movement caught Al's attention, "We've got movement at the main entrance" he spoke into the radio, "it's time to roll."

Kim had just clocked in, she was hoping to catch him in the locker room or maybe near the vending machines. She knew he had a stake out the previous night and she hoped they'd run into each other this morning.

She closed her eyes and thought back on that kiss and as she brought her fingertips to her lips she could almost feel the softness of his lips against hers. For such a simple kiss it sure worked her into a frenzy, reigniting her desire for him. Not that she had ever truly stopped wanting him, she had just been able to bury it.

That was no longer the case.

Trudy felt her stomach flip, these were the calls she loathed.

The call had come in twenty minutes again, the raid had gone sideways. She didn't know the particulars, it seemed no one did.

All she knew was that two officers were being transported to Chicago Med via an ambulance.

Olinsky and Ruzek.

She checked her watch and knew the shift change  was happening soon and that Kim would be arriving shortly if she hadn't already arrived.

She took off for the locker room, "Burgess! You in here?"

Kim was startled, "Yes, what are you all worked up about? I'm not late..." She still had twenty minutes before she was due to 'clock in'.

"It's Adam, and Al" Trudy leaned on the row of lockers, "they've been hurt."

Kim felt her knees wobble, "What? How? Is he okay?" She felt her heart race and the air seemed thin, she gasped trying to pull in enough air to breathe.

Trudy waved her hand around, "I don't know, Burgess. Are you coming with me or not?" She was growing impatient, she never liked it when any of her officers were hurt, but Al and Adam were different. She'd known Al for years and even though she would never admit it to anyone, Adam Ruzek was special. She liked him a lot, she liked Burgess a lot too. She may have taken their breakup just as hard as they had and she was equally excited for their renewed friendship and was quietly hoping for more.

"What about my shift?" Kim asked shakily, a thousand different scenarios racing through her head, an image of Hazel hit her. "Oh my god...Hazel..he has to be okay. She needs him"

"Forget your shift, let's go!" Platt ordered as she tugged on Kim's arm pulling her from the locker room.
