"Erin!" Kim called out as she ran across the hospital's parking lot, the intelligence unit huddled outside near the ambulance bay.Erin looked up and raced towards her friend, the pair sharing a quick hug, "Hey..."
Kim rubbed her arms, it had been unseasonably cool the last few days, and she was feeling it. "Where's Adam?"
Erin guided her into the hospital the rest of the unit following closely behind, "He's still being assessed, we don't know much. Al and Adam moved in, shots were fired and it all got a little chaotic."
"He was shot?" Kim asked on a shaky breath, she was sick with worry, "Please tell me he wasn't shot."
"He wasn't, Al was. I'm not sure what happened to Adam, by the time we rolled up they'd both been transported." It had been beyond frustrating and it had taken Jay and Kevin to keep Hank from going after a few patrol officers at the scene.
"What do you mean?!? How do you not know?" Kim felt her heart pound against her rib cage, she was terrified. Her hands began to shake and she felt her knees grow weak.
"Woah...Burgess, sit down" Kevin took her in his arms, "just breathe..." He held her hand and guided her to a chair, "Adam will be fine, you'll see."
Kim nodded wordlessly and leaned into him, she held on for dear life.
They all heard a commotion and their heads snapped up to see Adam yelling furiously, his shirt bloodied and his face bruised, "Where is he? I need to see him" spittle flying from his mouth, he was pissed.
Kim felt relief wash over her, she ran towards him flinging her body at him, "Adam, I was so scared" she cried.
He winced in pain as she wrapped her arms around him, he rubbed her back, "I'm okay..Kim, shh..I'm fine" he tried to soothe her, "you're gonna have to loosen your grip so I can breathe."
Kim let him go, "I'm sorry...where are you hurt? My god, you're covered in blood" she gasped as she gave him a once over, his left eye was bruised and had already started to swell, he had a cut above the same eye and it had already been stitched up. He was favoring the left side of his chest as well, "what happened?"
Adam turned to the nurse, "Will you find out about my partner, please?"
"Yes, of course" the nurse moved quickly.
Adam grabbed her arm stopping her in her tracks, "I'm sorry for yelling...just tired of the run around" he smiled stiffly at her.
Adam moved Kim to a row of chairs, "Sit down."
Kim followed his orders and watched as Adam's face scrunched up as he moved and slowly dropped himself into the chair, "You're hurt, are you okay?"
Adam grabbed her hand, "A few broken ribs, a nasty cut" he pointed to his head, "I'm fine though, don't worry."
Kim gently touched his face, checking the cut above his eyebrow, "You don't look fine..." Her thumb stroked his cheek, "I was so worried.." A few tears slipped from her eyes.
Adam reached up and flicked her tears away, "Hey..hey..c'mon don't cry" he whispered, "I'm fine..I promise."
Kim nodded, "I love you Adam" she blurted out, "I love you so much and when Platt told me you'd been hurt, I was so afraid for you...and for Hazel. I was afraid I'd never get to tell you...tell you that I love you."
She took his face in her hands and pulled him to her, she kissed him lightly and was about to pull back when Adam grabbed her by the back of the neck and prolonged the kiss, he let his other hand roam her body. The kiss was a release of their pent up emotions, it was long and passionate.
