Alyssa was a ball of nervous energy, she paced the length of Kim's living room while she waited for Kim to return from putting the kids down for a nap. The framed photos placed throughout the room only added to her level of uneasiness. She picked up one of Kim and Adam from a BBQ at Hank's house, Kim sat in Adam's lap, her arm draped around his shoulders; Adam looking up at Kim lovingly.

"Ok. Sam's asleep and Hazel is zoning to a movie, what's up?" Kim slipped the hair tie from her wrist and pulled her hair into a ponytail, "is it Kevin?"

Alyssa put the photo down and pulled Kim towards the couch, "Sit down."

"Alyssa...what is it?" Kim had a sick feeling in the pit of her stomach, "I don't want to sit..just tell me what's wrong."

Alyssa folded her hands in her lap, "I saw Adam today."

Kim cocked her head to the side, "Ok?"

"With another woman." Alyssa spit out, she had thought about going to Kevin with what she had witnessed but was afraid that he'd tell her to not say anything, or that he'd go to Adam with it.

Kim took a deep breath, "Where? Maybe it was a CI. You know they've got CI's and they meet with them."

Alyssa shook her head, "No, this wasn't a CI. She was touching his arm, and..."

Kim felt sick, "What're you saying? Are you implying that Adam is cheating on me?" She wanted to vomit as the words crossed her lips, "Adam wouldn't!"

Alyssa touched her leg, "Kim, he hugged her. They looked really close."

"Did you say anything to him? Ask him what he was doing?" Kim questioned her.

"No! I was shocked, I just watched until they left, then I texted you." She explained, "Kim, I'm sorry...but I had to say something to you...I couldn't pretend I didn't see it."

Kim felt the room begin to spin, "Ok." She turned her back on Alyssa and walked to the front door, Alyssa following closely behind her, "I think it's time for you to go...I would like to be alone."

Alyssa bit her lip, "Kim...are you okay? I hate this."

Kim nodded, her eyes glistening with tears, "I'm fine."

It was hours later when Adam came home, "Daddy! Piggy back?" Sam asked.

Adam kneeled down, "Sure. Climb up" he waited until he felt Sam's legs tighten around his body, "where's mommy and Hazel-Nut?"

"Doing nails!" Sam scrunched his face up in horror, "and make up!"

Adam laughed, "One day you'll appreciate that stuff, kid."

Kim felt herself tense up when Adam appeared in the room, "Mommy...daddy's home!"

Kim forced a smile, "I see that."

She had spent the entire afternoon going over what Alyssa had told her; the more she thought about the worse she felt. For a long time now, he would be called away for an hour or two here, and a few hours there. It seemed he was gone more than he was home, and she could no longer deny that he seemed preoccupied.

"Hey, you're still up to dinner with Jay and Erin, right?" Kim asked as she folded the basket of laundry, it seemed bottomless.
