Waking up this morning nearly gave me a heart attack, the town horn blared four times calling the whole island to the hall, where I am currently at with Asta in a small chair next to me. I looked down at her and gave her a gentle smile. "um, what are we doing here? we normally go flying in the morning." Asta said to me, i just shrugged and leaded to her ear "lets just hope your Grandfather isn't going to do anything stupid." as i moved back into my chair my father walked up to the Chiefs table patting me on the shoulder. "good morning everyone! as you all know my wife Val and your future chief, my son, Hiccup has returned with friends and surprises." dad was cut off by everyone cheering, I looked over to Asta as she started to sink into her chair. "are you okay Asta?" I asked her she looked up at me then back at the villagers "I don't want them to know i'm your daughter dad. you'll lose your chance with Astrid if they do." Asta explained. I reached my hand over and stroked her shoulder, "Asta darling, whatever happens, happens. If having you would ruin my chance of being with Astrid then so be it. as much as I love AStrid and would fight to keep her. you're my daughter, and you are my everything." i consulted her. she grinned up at me, the same grin her mother had that i became so found of. "I would like to introduce everyone properly by title, first off Thraya Haddock, my adoptive daughter. next is Eret son of Eret, hunter, tracker, and worrior. next is Ingrid shes a healer of both human and dragon, Heather, lets just say shes a bit like Astrid." everyone laughed at that my father looked at me then at asta and back. I stood up "Thraya's Brother Goustv, may he rest with the gods, he was my best friend, and my brother. he sacrificed himself to save Thraya and I." everyone bowed their heads with respect "and finally.." my father began, i cut him off "no, let me."
"and this lovely little lady is my Daughter, Asta. four years ago my Wife Evealn, May she rest with the gods, died protecting our family, Asta was taken away from me the same day. but a few day's ago my Friend Dagur brought her back to me." once i finished everyone was dead silent, I felt a tug on my pant leg when i looked down Asta had tears in her eyes. "daddy i want to go home, I don't like it here. they don't like me." I got down to her hight, "they'll like you honey, they just have to get use the idea." i explained to her, soon enough tears started streaming down her eyes "I want to go see Mommy." she chocked out. i looked around the Great hall everyone was staring at us. "I think that's a good idea." i picked her up and leaned over to mother to tell her where we were going, she gave a nod and i headed out with Asta in my arms, everyone's eyes were on us as i walked towards the door, but before I reached the door i stopped and turned slightly, "you all must understand, I was never was planning on coming back, ever." and with that I turned away and continued out the door with hushed voices behind us.
a few hours later we arrived at Evealns grave spot, I hopped off toothless with Asta in my arms, she had fallen asleep crying. i slowly walked up to Evealns grave and layed Asta down infront of the stone. "Evealn, can you do me a favor? I know i've asked alot of you, but I need you to help the village of Berk understand Asta, our daughter. i don't know if you saw what happened earlier today, but i fear the village wont accept her." i felt tears stream down my eyes. after awhile I felt Asta start to wake. "daddy? What's wrong?" Asta asked groggly, i just looked at her "I fear they wont accept you my dear... There must be something I can do." Asta had sat up with her eyes glazed and her face down. i bowed and shook my head, "I'll figure something out Asta. your mother would smack me upside the head if i just gave up." i faintly laughed at the very distint memory.
flashback~~~~~~'
It had been a hard day, we lost some dragons and I had given up on finding them. my home was slowly coming into view, i sighed with my head bowed as i opened the door. "hey Honey! just finishing up dinner. and Asta is in her play pin!" Evealn yelled from the Kitchen. I didn't say anything back i just walked up to my one year old daughter and grinned at her quickly rubbing the top of her head. "Hiccup? what wrong?" Evealn asked as she turned the corner, i heaved a great sigh. "I give up Evealn, I can't find those dragons. I've looked everywhere and still I can't find them." I explained but what happened next i really didn't expect, a smack to the back of the head "OW!! what was that for!" i yelled, "do you want your daughter growing up thinking of you as a Quitter? do you want her to be a quitter?" she asked me with a stone hard glare, "no of course not! I want her to be a great leader." i answered her while rubbing the back of my head, "then show her what a great Leader looks like, make her proud to not only call you her dad, but her Chief."

Those words still stick with me today but it was hard remembering those words, Evealyn always knew how to keep me on my feet, just remembering some words she said hurts, feels as if i only lost her a week ago. "I wish momma was still here." I looked down at Asta and she was staring at the gravestone tears streeming down those small cheeks. My little girl didn't desurve this, to lose her mother at such a young age. I pulled her closer to me and hugged her tightly. "I wish she was here too baby girl." tears begain to stream down my own face. I held Asta listening to her sobbs, rocking her. I held her for hours both of us crying soon i felt a had on my shoulder, when I turned to see who it was, it was Astrid, she nelt to the ground and looked at Evealyns grave and bowed her head then turning to hug Asta and I. "I miss my mommy." Asta sobbed. I felt Astrids arms loosen i looked at her and saw her pain, she felt as though Asta was her daughter and it hurt her to know her pain. "you always have Astrid now baby." I told her, Asta looked at Astrid and leaped out of my arms and into hers "Asta your mother, was a great woman. trust me it took me awhile before I realized why her name and her face looked so fimilar. I knew her, a long time ago." I looked at Astrid in suprise, "what do you mean? when?" i asked her, Asta looked up at her you could see the little bit of hope in her eyes. "Her real name was Evealyn Wrathgarp, daughter of Odis Wrathgarp the greatest warrior and Chieften In the Isle of Plathonem. He was worshiped by many and at one point he was worshiped by my family. Evealyn and I were born on the same day, I was born in the morning, and she was born in the evening. when we were both at the age of 5 is when we met she was a very rotten girl then, always yelling at people, she was very pushy. I was the girl with the anger problems. I had ran into her with a bucket of water." Astrid paused to laugh, Asta had calmed down and was contently listening to Astrid as she started up again. "she got soked, and started yelling at me. I just looked at her and when she realised I was just letting her yell at me she had said to me "your just standing there, your not yelling back like everyone else." can you guess what I told her?" she asked Asta, "you told her that your a friend?" she answered, Astrid laughed, "close! I told her that I wasn't allowed to talk back to my future Chieften, and that I'm a worrior and i respect my future Cheif. she was completely shocked, the didn't know the extent of a worrior's behaviors, and trust. when she learned it we became the best of friends she trusted me with her life and I was deamed her protecter, but then one day the town went into complete panic, Evealyn was missing there were signs of struggle and I was blamed for not protecting her and was banished from the island, I was seven when i was banished and my best friend went missing, they left me on an Island far away, but little did i know they left me on the Isle of Berk, where three days later Hiccups father found me, and brought me to the village." she paused smiling at the memory of the first day we met. "that was also the day I met your father. that was a new start for me, a new day. I never saw the village again and never heard of Evealyns return. but sounds like she did okay without me." she finished Asta looked at her, hope filled her eyes, and I saw why, Astrid was the last thing she had of her mother, the last memory the last hope. "daddy are you gonna ask astrid?" Asta asked me i looked down at her with a raised eyebrow, "ask me what?" Astrid looked at me with the same confused face as I gave Asta. "what are you talking about?" i asked Asta. she stood up and wispered in my ear, my eyes widdened. I forgot I talked to her about asking Astrid for her hand but only if she was okay with it. "uuuhhh Later Asta, nows not really the time." I explained to her she nodded. Astrid still had a confused face on, I just flashed her a smile. hopefully after this war is over Astrid, Asta and I can be a family, and add another of our own.
