I Ran Away

"our little Girl"

   We all decided to stay on the island that night, we walked around the Island, Asta showing Astrid the best spots for trianing, and for calming down. I wached them, feeling like I had my family back. so much love filled me. Astrid and I agreed that we'd stay tonight and head back to Berk in the morning. that was the most relaxed night i had in years.

    I woke up to a start Astrid shook me awake, "Hiccup we have to go now!" I look at astrid with Asta in her arms, and that when I noticed the blood. I jumped and grabbed my stuff "What happened?!" I asked her in a panic. she hopped on Stormfly still holding Asta "I-I don't know when I woke up she was gone, I went looking for her and then I found her in a clearing like this." Astrid was pail, panicked. theres something she's not telling me. "Well lets get her to Berk quickly, and then we'll talk." I gave a look to show her I know she's hiding something she looked down at Asta and nudged stormfly as i hopped onto toothless and took off. 

    Astrid flew in front of me all the way to Berk keeping pressure on Asta's wound. I couldn't see the wound and Astrid looked close to tears. "how is she doing?" I yelled over the wind, "She's breathing still, and bleeding... and her heart rate is slowing." I could see the tears stream down her eyes. I looked forward "Astrid give Stromfly a boost, were almost to Berk!" Astrid nodded and shot off toothless taking off behind her. 

     Astrid landed In the plaza jumping off stormfly i was right behind her. she ran for the closest healers house with me at her heals, and people watching us with the most horrified face's i've seen in years. I saw Ingrid up ahead "Ingrid grab all the medical supplies you need something happened to Asta and hurry!" I yelled as we passed her and into a medical hut. Astrid Layed Asta on the closest bed "I need something to stop the bleeding Hiccup! get me a cloth, or anything." I quickly scanned the cabnents and found a few thick, long white cloths. I handed one to Astrid and put the others to the side when Astrid lifted her hand I saw the wound finally, it was a stab wound and it was deep, but there was one wound that stood out a symbole carved into the chest, the symbole of the Hunters. I felt my anger flare, my body was shaking. "Hiccup!" Astrid was shaking me Ingrid had come in "It's best you wait outside now that you've seen." I nodded and walked out. 

    Next thing I know I was sitting on the steps of my old house, bad thoughts going through my head. I felt eyes on me causing me to look up It was my family, Thraya came up to me a kneeled down, "Is she dead?" I asked her, tears welling up in my eyes "shes in a deep coma, Hiccup." I was relieved but at the same time if she doesn't wake up In three weeks she'll surely die of starvation. tears streamed down my eyes, and I begain weeping. I leaned into my sister and she rubbed my back. "I'm sorry Hiccup... I wish there was more we could do." Thraya said as she begain to stand up "you should cheack up on Astrid. when the procedure was over and Ingrid told her the news, she dissapeared." I looked up at my sister as she walked away. Astrid dissapeared? I stood up and started walking twords the woods toothless trailing behind me.  I think I have a good Idea where she might be. 

    I had to be walking for a good few hours before I came to the cove, I climbed down into the cove, when I turned around sure enough there was Astrid and Stormfly. Stormfly had looked up and came twords toothless he leg looked really good, I walked over to Astrid, as I got closer I heard sniffiling I sat next to her and placed my hand on her back she looked at me tears streaming down her eyes, "Thraya told me...are you alright?" I asked her. she bowed her head, "A worrior never cries Hiccup, but when ingrid told me I couldn't help but cry... Asta felt as though she was my own. It's all my fault Hiccup... I'm sorry..." Astrid began sobbing, I wrapped my arms around her and held her close the last time I even saw her close to tears was when she tried to stop me from running away all thoughs years ago. "what even happened Astrid?" i asked her, she shook her head "Astrid she's my daughter, the heir to the sanctuary. you need to tell me what happened." her face turned red "you don't think I don't know that Hiccup! have you evern thought she's a daughter to me too?!" Astrid yelled and pushed my had off of her, she stood up and and walked to the edge of the water. "you're just like your father, only worried about his child because she's the heir to your Island. do you even treat her as a person? someone who has a life and not a stone future as your heir?" she asked, I just looked at her i felt shock run through me, soon I felt anger and frustration, I slowly stood up "I do treat her like a human Astrid, for thor sake she's my daughter! It's just her role in life is inportant!" i nearly growled back at her "Important? like your role in this village is important, but you left anyways!? your doing the same thing to your daughter as your father did to you Hiccup! maybe you should revise your parenting skills, and your own life before you talk about who has what Important role in this life!" Astrid screamed at me tears streaming down her face, she ran off to Stormfly and quickly flew away "Astrid! wait!" I yelled, i ran to toothless and jumped on "come on bud go get her" toothless took off to the sky.

Toothless and I have been flying for hours It was now sunsest, no sight of Astrid anywhere, so I decided to go see my little girl. I had landed in the plaza and that when I saw my mother she was carrying some of Asta's clothes. "let me help you mom." I said as I walked up to her and reached for the basket in her hands. "oh thatnk you son. things are getting a wee bit heavy now days. I guess i'm just getting old." she laughed, I grinned at her "oh your not getting old mother... just weaker."I busted into laughter with her "oh please!" she exclamed as she nudged me with her elbow. we kept walking, where I'm guessing is the house we had to drop Asta off at. "how is she?" I asked lowly, almost barly auditable, "Don't tell me you haven't gone to visit your own daughter son!" mom stopped in her steps, I looked away from her "oh Hiccup. sometimes I think your are just like you father, working to take your mind off your own severly injured child. that's why you and your father don't have a good relationship any more son, because he couldn't stand to look at his own frale child sick, or injured. stop being your father Hiccup!" she yelled at the end, I chringed and looked away. Astrid was right, I am my father. I started walking next to mom again, my head down. when we got to the house mom opened the door and walked in, as I walked in behind her I saw Astrid sitting in the chair next to Asta's bed, she was bent over, head resting on the bed, I felt an ache in my heart the second I saw her, I put the basket down on the nearest table, "alright boy-oh I'll be leaving to go tend to the dragons, i'll see you later." she walked out of the house and I walked over to Astrid and put my hand on her back, she drowsly looked up at me I kneeled down on my knees, "Astrid, I'm sorry about what I said earlier, you were right." I slowly took my hand off her back and on her hand, "I am my father." I bowed my head, feeling shame, sadness, and fear rush through me. "oh Hiccup. you might act like your father sometimes but your not exactly like him, you taught Asta some really great things." she moved down onto the floor her, she grabbed my hands and held them close to her chest. I freed one hand and gently placed it on her cheek, she leaned forward and placed her forehead on mine, "we can get her through this Hiccup, she's strong just like you and Evealyn, she's a fighter." Astrid layed a soft kiss on my cheek and stood up taking me with her she pulled up another chair for me to sit in. for awhile we talked here and there and held Asta's hand. 

     "you know Astrid, Asta has been pushing me to ask you for your hand." I blurted out, i felt my eyes widened as she looked at me, "she has?" I nodded slowly "I actually wasn't suppose to tell you that. she want's it to be a suprise." I blushed and laughed very drily. "well i'll act like I didn't hear thins convorsation." she started laughing and that's when I did too. after awhile I went silent. "Astrid can you tell me what happened to her?" I softly asked, Astrids smiling face went away quickly. "Like I said when I woke up she wasn't there, so I went to look for her." I looked at her and raised an eye brow. "We shouldn't talk about this in front of her, let's go out side and take a walk." I nodded at her sudgustion, I got up and knocked on the bedroom door "Ingrid! Astrid and I are taking a quick walk come get us if there are any changes to Asta!" I yelled loud enough "Okay! I'll be here!" I hear her yell back, i turned to Astrid and nodded. she let go of Asta's hand turned to kiss her on the forehead, "we'll be back later Asta." she wispered i reached out my hand and Astrid took it we walked out through the door an started walking towards the over look of the docks. as we walked the Island was silent, except for the ocasional snoring gronkle. we walked twords the clif and Astrid came to a halt, sitting down and taking a deep breath "so, you were saying?" I questioned her, she looked down at her hands, which I just realized were stained with Asta's own blood, as well as her clothes. "when I walked into the clearing, there she was just laying there I saw someone over her and grabbed my axe, I went after him and when I got to him he deflected my attack, I..." astrid looked away "It's okay Astrid, what ever happened won't matter to me as long as I know what happened to our little girl." Astrid turned to look at me with shock, i smiled at her and brushed my fingers through her hair, "I, um." Astrid shook her head "I killed him Hiccup, I was so angry I killed him..." she quickly turned away from me not wanting to show her face. "oh Astrid. I know you don't believe in killing people unless completely nessary, but if you think about he was killing Asta." astrid nodded and looked at me I wrapped my arm around her waist and pulled her closer, I put my lips close to her ear "Thank you for taking Asta in as your own mylady" i wispered she shivered, and smiled. she rested her head on my sholder and I rested my head against hers, I was oddly relaxed for being back on Berk, but I'll take it. This place Is realy starting to feel like home again.
