Zayn's POV
I cannot feel pity for this girl. I cannot want to protect her. She is just another girl that gets thrown into this business.
In that same order, I repeat to myself.
Yet she's so beautiful. I'd almost do anything to protect her innocence from this world. Alina doesn't know what it's like to truly suffer. I want to pour bleach into the parts of my brain that had these thoughts for Alina. I look at the way as her chest rose and fell, she looks so peaceful in her sleep. For a few hours Alina gets to escape this madness her life will become.
I stopped sleeping awhile ago. I mean, I shut my eyes for 2 or 3 hours, but I could never sleep well. I never loosened up enough to really sleep and have dreams. But if I did have dreams they were nightmares. The constant screams and crying does that to you. It's always the same thing you hear when you get into this job.
I shut my eyes for a few seconds before I hear the sharp intake of breath.
Alina's awake. I look over at her and she's looking at me. Without fear or sadness. Just looking at me and it felt as if she was looking right through me. Her warm brown eyes were soft standing out.
"Can I go to the bathroom?" Alina requests in a groggy tone.
I answer her by simply reaching for the key in my pocket then unlock the cuffs. She gets them off and heads over to the bathroom hastily. I get up then put a chair on the bathroom knob so she won't be able to get out. I need to get to the car for clothes. I should have something for her in the trunk.
I hurried and went to go do that.
"Zayn?" I hear Alina say from the bathroom when I come back. She hit the door really hard and furiously shook the knob.
"I'm right here wait Alina." I say loudly so she can hear me. I drop the stuff on the bed then go to remove the chair. Right away Alina steps outside gasping and shaking. I frown setting the chair down to look at her.
"Are you alright?" I ask.
"I'm having a freaking panic attack." She gasps, going to sit on the bed. I felt bad, as I head over.
"Alina it's okay. You're okay." I murmur, leaning down in front of her.
Alina looks at me with those big, warm, brown eyes.
"Don't ever do that to me again Zayn" She whispers, her voice is thick with emotion, "you can tie me up or handcuffs, but never lock me inside a small space. I get really bad anxiety attacks."
"I won't." I promised her...for now. When we got to London everything was going to change. I wouldn't see her as much. I'd probably never even see Alina again. So I need to stop any sense of comfort towards Alina. It wouldn't do her good to depend on me to protect her.
There was literally nothing I could do for Alina now. She rubs her eyes gently sniffing slightly then nods. Her attention turns over to the clothing on the bed.
"I'm going to have a heat stroke in these?" Alina mumbles moving to get it.
"You won't be out in the sun long. London will be cold when we get there." I murmur.
