josh was due back the next day, and oh tyler was so excited. he had to have deep cleaned the house at lest eight times that day, that hour.
he wanted everything to be absolutely perfect for josh. it had to be. it could replace the imperfect mess that tyler was.

tyler dug his hand under the bed, checking around for any trash or extra items.
his finger tips landed against a leather surface, he grasped the rim and pulled it from under the bed.

he looks at it, seeing no title, he opens a page and sees the words "dear diary."
tyler gasps.
he shouldn't read it, it's so disrespectful towards josh. but the curiosity was killing him, so he proceeded.

he had expected words to follow "dear diary," but there were only pictures.
disturbing illustrations filled the blank pages, blacks, whites, and grey's filled multiple pages. he turned to the very back of the diary, his latest entry being from just last week, along with another concerning drawing.

"draw or write whatever is on your mind. however you're feeling. i think this will help. happy birthday. -debby"

tyler's eyes widen as he reads the small note at the bottom of the hardcover of the diary. he feels a slight dizziness, an addictive feeling, rise in his head. he gasps, attempting to have air fill his lungs, and after a few short seconds, it did. he sighed with relief, and proceeded to look through every picture, concern rising as he sees the illustrations grow more and more gory and disturbing.

a very bad sinking feeling fills tyler's chest. he's gonna throw up.

it's okay it's okay it's okay. he's probably over it. no need to worry.

tyler's mind is racing, pacing back and forth at a speed in which he didn't know was possible.

he tries to focus more on his breathing, but the panic in his chest refuses to allow that.

his thoughts are cut off by an obnoxious ringing, tyler turns to see josh's contact pop up on his computer. how convenient.

tyler once again reluctantly presses accept, and the call begins.

josh's dim face appears on the screen, a smile gracing his features as tyler looks back at him.

"tyler! how are you baby?"

tyler smiles falsely, shrugging a bit.

"i'm good, you?"

josh's smile falters.

"i have some bad news, actually. there was an accident. my mom, she's in the hospital. i, i don't think she's gonna make it, ty. i need you here. please come down, i'll pay for your ticket and everything. but i'm hurting. and i need you."

tyler nods, "when's the next flight let out?"

-

tyler rests his head against the window, the flight wasn't going to be very long, only around an hour. the thought of josh still made him sick to his stomach, he had decided to bring the diary along with him. just in case.

the flight soon begins take off, tyler shuts his eyes, soon drifting off to sleep.

-
the next time the young boy opens his eyes, the flight has landed. tyler shrugs and gets up to see the plane nearly empty. he quickly gathers his things and exits.

he calls josh as soon as he gets to the terminal, letting him know that he'll be at the hotel in an hour.

tyler tried to ignore the searing pain in his chest. the anxiety is burning him alive. and he simply can't handle it.  he sits down for a minute, breathing in and out, trying to ease his mind.

he begins to think back to the images in the journal. the on color being used was red, for blood. and those illustrations were supposed to represent his feelings, he was in shock. the small boy still didn't know how to react.

but eventually that didn't matter anymore. because he was soon in josh's arms.

the two boys held an embrace for what felt like an eternity; neither of them minded.
