I'd only been working for fifteen minutes, yet it felt like an eternity.  This morning was a drag, I had to crawl out of bed, literally. Sadly the cold shower didn't do much to wake me up, I was exhausted!  I just wanted to curl up at my desk and sleep, but that was a no-no at Dunmore and Co especially as an intern. I scanned the room only to see it empty. A quick shut eye shouldn't hurt right?  I rested my head on the desk and closed my eyes. It felt heavenly to just give my body the rest it needed after staying up to be at that vile party. As the seconds went by I drifted into a deeper sleep.

Right when my first period of REM was about to start, the sound of a hand slamming against the desk woke me. I pitched up and saw Ms. Lahey standing in front of me.

"Sleeping on the job are we!" She stared at me.

"Uh . . . I'm so sorry, I just . . "

"Save it!" She cut me off.

"There are some papers that need to be filed in the back." She said.

"Okay!" I replied scurrying to the file room.

There were papers everywhere! I had left the room organized in alphabetical order last week but now it wasn't even in an order of short and long papers. A heavy sigh fell from my lips and I got to work.  I spent the next two hours in there organizing the papers by solved and unsolved, then by year and letter.  If I wasn't awake before, I sure was now.  As I put my last box up, Ms. Lahey opened the door and told me I needed to go on a coffee run.

I walked out of the room and then exited the building.  The nearest Starbucks was quite a trot, but it was one I had to make. After about 3 blocks I finally reached.  One soy latte, low fat cappuccino, Non -fat , non-dairy, no foam frappe,  hazel-nut frappe,  a strawberries and creme and a straight black coffee later I left Starbucks. Times like this made me wish I had a car, as I'm pretty sure I looked like a clown in training trying to balance all of these drinks. Greatly, I managed to reach the firm without spilling any of them.  I stumbled to Lahey's office and knocked on the door.  The door swung open and I walked in. Since Lahey didn't tell me who ordered what, I had to call out the drinks and hand them out as if I was the barista.

I walked out of the room leaving the group in the office. I stationed myself at the receptionist's desk and began to swig my coffee. The time had flew by so fast that it was now 1 o'clock.  I had a couple more hours of work left and since it seemed as if no one was coming into the building, I decided to catch up on 'A tale of two cities'

"I can't say."   The end of the first book." It read.

I had managed to read three chapters in the span of 5 hours, it seemed like a little, but with Ms. Lahey as my supervisor, it was a blessing that I had gotten that far.

"I'm sorry, I wish he was here for you to talk to him." I heard a voice say.

I didn't want to seem as if I was eavesdropping, but I most certainly was.

"Yeah . . . right!" Another voice angered.

"Look kid, I happen to like you and I want the best for you and all, but he's just not here right now!"

"Where is he?  I mean this is his firm -- so where is he!?"

"He . . . He's in  Maui . . . with his wife."
