"Okay, so the theory states that in a right angle triangle the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the square of the other two sides." Mr. Paul explained.
"Therefore, the formula would look like this, " He said as he wrote on the board.
"Alright, try a couple in the text book." He sat down at his desk.
Unlike last week my mind seemed to be back to its original state, no thoughts of horrid parties, dancing or troublemakers. I tried to rid my mind of these memories as I worked on the math problems.
"How was your weekend?" Nyla whispered.
"Honestly . . . Exhausting!" I whispered back.
"Why so?" She furrowed her dark, arched eyebrows.
"I don't want to talk about it. How was yours?" I sighed.
"Actually it was fun! Kyle took me to lunch and we ate club sandwiches and had Blueberry smoothies." She smiled as if she were watching it play over in her brain.
"Sounds nice!" I tried to be supportive.
"Yeah, I finished an S.A.T book by the way!" She smiled all too happy.
"I guess you had no distractions?" I teased.
"Oh I did, but I made it work!" She said raising an eyebrow.
"Okay, you win!" I laughed.
"Finally!" She chuckled.
We cut our conversation, and attended back to the problems Mr. Paul assigned. In our moment of concentration, the bell rung.
"Okay, finish it up at home guys. You're free to leave!" He said from his desk.
We headed down the hallway to go to literature class. The hallway was packed, all of the different cliques in there spots. Brittany and her friends were at her locker touching up their painted faces. Chad and the football jocks were headed to the gym, as this was normally their free period to practice, and me -- not being a big people's fan, I walked as fast as I can to escape the crowd.
"Hey, Brains wait up!" I heard a familiar voice say from afar.
I looked back and it was exactly who I expected, walking away from his pack.
"Is that --?" Nyla began to ask.
"Let's go!" I said pulling her as I sped off. If I was walking fast before I saw him, my speed hit a whole other level when I did.
We entered the classroom and sat down.
"Morning Ms. Powell!" We greeted her.
"Morning girls!" She said.
Nyla and I headed towards our seats as a familiar face came over to us.
"Hey, you're that girl who danced with Landon Saturday right?" She smiled.
I responded with a small smile.
"You guys looked great together! Despite what people think he's a really nice guy!" Her face glowed.
"Oh, It's Zoe by the way." She held out her hand.
"Acacia." I smiled slightly shaking her hand.
"I'm Nyla!" She exclaimed doing the same.
"Nice to meet you both!" She smiled going to take a seat.
"You too!" Nyla smiled as we sat down.
