Alex's eyes scanned the street in front of him and he constantly glanced at his mirrors. They weren't safe on the streets. His heart leapt in his chest when he saw a headlight speeding towards them and he cursed under his breath as he looked around desperately for somewhere to hide. Nothing. He sped up, the wind stinging his eyes and he felt Fawn tighten her grip around him. As the two motorcycles flew down the street, more appeared, making Alex panic even more as he yelled profanities in his mind. The motorcycle was only a few feet behind and Alex's bike suddenly skidded to the left and he nearly lost control as the motorcycle behind him pushed against his back tire. Fawn screamed and she pressed herself even closer to Alex as the guy on the bike pushed Alex's back tire a second time. Alex lost control, meeting with the asphalt in a deadly embrace. Pain racketed through their bodies as they skidded across the ground and crashed into the side railing with a sickening crunch.
Alex groaned as he clutched his head, the pain almost too much to bare. He felt something warm slide down his arm and when he pulled back to look, he was shocked, not at the fact that there was blood, but at the amount of it; it was running in rivlets down his arm and onto his clothes, staining them. His vision was starting to go fuzzy but he quickly became alert when he heard a piercing shriek and realized it was coming from Fawn. Her leg was caught underneath the motorcycle and she was frantically trying to get it out, but only managed to make things worse. Alex shot up off the ground, causing himself to sway before managing to steady himself and lift the bike and throw it to the side. He rushed to her side and kneeled by her. Her dress was torn and ripped and his stomach churned as he saw blood glistening through the frabic in the light of the approaching motorcycle headlights. He pulled back her dress and gingerly touched her leg in various places to see if it was broken and sighed a sigh of relief when it wasn't, but it was damaged enough for her to not be able to stand on her own. The crunching of footsteps on gravel caught his attention and Alex was up in a flash, turning around and setting his fiercest gaze upon the offender. He knew he had no chance in his weakened state; by now, his head was throbbing and he was struggling to stand up. But he had had enough, they could hurt him as much as they wanted, but when they hurt Fawn, that was where he drew the line.
The stranger cocked an eyebrow at Alex. "Oh? What's this?" He asked in mock surprise. "You actually want to fight back? You're not as much of a wuss as your father made you out to be." He said with a sneer as he took out a gun. "I would take you up on that challenge, but I have a job to do." He said as he he looked at Alex pointedly and pointed the gun at Fawn. Alex felt his throat tighten knowing that the underlining meaning was make one step and she dies. Alex clenched his jaw and curled his hands into fists as he resisted the urge to beat the guy into a pulp and just stared daggers at him, hoping that looks could actually kill.
Fawn on the other hand was scanning the ground, anything she could use to somehow make the man stummble, or fall to the ground in pain like he deserved. Who does the bastard think he is? How dare he hurt Alex. As she began to loose hope, the lights of the now stopping motorcycles glinted off of a sharp piece of metal that had broken away from their bike. It was only a few inches away, if only she could move without the man noticing. She looked at Alex, flashing her eyes between him and the piece of metal. He nodded his head knowingly and began to speak.
"Hey, ugly." Alex began, making the man look at him. "Why waste your time on a couple of kids? Are you that lonely and pathetic that you want to ruin the happiness of others because you can't find happiness yourself? Or is it that you're jealous because you can't get some?" He said mockingly, smirking at the man. If he couldn't hurt him, the least he could do was aggravate him.
"Why you little brat." The man said as he took a step toward Alex while keeping his gun pointed at Fawn.
"That's not the first time I've been called that." Alex said, chuckling to himself as he remembered Mike.
