I don't know how, but she managed to pull it off. Tuesday night at exactly 7:00pm, I'm pulling my two suitcases down the driveway. I can see the relief on my parents face as they help me carry my things. I'm sure they'll be glad to get me out of the house for the next two weeks. I don't really blame them; they finally got me moved out of the house after college only for me to move back in and pester them. Since I don't have a car, Rina thought it would be a splendid idea (her words, not mine) for all of us to ride in the same car. Ya, that's right. We're driving to Florida. From Cincinnati, Ohio to Siesta Keys, Florida with all of us crammed into David's tiny car. I'm going to be stuck in that car for the fourteen and a half hour drive-and that's if we don't make any stops. And lucky me gets to spend it with obnoxious people. When two cars pull into the driveway I turn to say goodbye to my parents.
"Have fun," says Dad with a hug.
"Send pictures," Mom tells me.
"Don't get eaten by a crocodile!" Della yells from the front porch. I give her a thumbs up. Rina gets out of one of the cars and walks over to me.
"I though we were only taking one car?" I ask. One car I recognized as David's silver Buick. The other was a black Jeep Cherokee with tinted windows. Rina rolls her eyes and gestures to the Jeep.
"Jacob decided he wanted peace and quiet on the car ride there. He already informed us that you have to ride in our car."
"Oh alrighty then."
Rina helps me haul my things into Jacob's car-it's bigger and can hold more- then I climb into the backseat of the small Buick. I wave through the window to my family as we pulled out of the driveway. This is for sure the most random trip I've ever taken. I couldn't decide yet if it was going to be fun or the worst thing I've ever done. Considering Rina planned it in under two days, who knows how it could end. Either way I'm excited to go on a trip with my three best friends. I feel slightly guilty for leaving Jay behind but he wasn't speaking to me so it's not my fault. Rina claims to have talked to him about it so I wouldn't have to. I'm just hoping this vacation isn't a complete fail.
Six hours into the trip, I regret everything. It's one in the morning and all I want to do at the moment was go to sleep. I was up late last night and desperately wanted to close my eyes but Rina and David had other plans. Instead of being nice and quiet like I asked them to, they're singing at the top of their lungs. The first four hours of singing was fine; the three of us had lots of fun. But now it was just annoying. No matter what I said, they wouldn't shut up. They weren't even playing good music anymore.
"Would you guys please stop it. I need sleep," I plea once again.
"No if I have to stay awake during this whole drive then so do you," David says. I groan and consider smothering them with my pillow.
"You both know that if I don't get sleep then I get really crabby. Pretty please."
Again, they ignore me. They've been ignoring be for almost an hour now.
"Brilliant Mira," I mutter to myself. I had an idea. Hopefully it will work.
"Hey David I need to pee. Can we stop?" I ask as nicely as I can manage. Rina turns around in her seat and gives me a questioning look.
"We just stopped three hours ago," she says.
"Ya three whole hours ago. I need to pee."
"Alright. Call Jacob and tell him to get off at the next exit. I kinda need to go too," David says. I resist the urge to do a small victory dance. I happily tell Jacob and tell him to follow us. As soon as we come to a stop in front of a gross looking gas station I practically run towards the bathrooms. I didn't have to pee that badly but if I can just manage to get back to the cars before the rest of them then my plan will work.
I sneak over to where the cars are parked. I peer through Jacob's window and see that he left his car unlocked, just like I was hoping. The idiot alms or always left his car unlocked.
"Idiot," I mutter to myself. I get into his car and relax in the seat. I hear their voices getting closer so I quickly put my seatbelt on and pretend to be asleep. There absolutely no way I was getting back into that loud car. Jacob opens his car door and he cusses loudly.
"You scared me," he says. I keep my eyes shut tight. "She's sleeping."
The three of them then start to discuss if they should wake me up. Rina really wanted to. She wants me back in their car to 'enjoy the car ride with the fun ones.' Jacob argued that they should just let me sleep. I was hoping Jacob would win this argument. I'm not really sure why this was such a big deal, why I couldn't just go with him. After a few minutes of discussion, the conversation ends and Jacob gets into the car.
"I know you're not really asleep. You're welcome," he says. I open my eyes and sit up.
"How'd you know?"
"I figured they were annoying you. Rina informed me that she was determined to make this the best trip you've ever been on to take your mind off of Jay."
"Well she needs to stop. I'm perfectly fine." It doesn't matter that for some reason my fiancée suddenly hates me and is telling people our wedding is off. That doesn't affect me at all. Right now all that was bothering me was Rina's singing.
"Whatever liar. Just go to sleep."
I thankfully shut my eyes. The car is so peacefully quiet that I fall asleep within seconds.

When I wake up, I'm in an unfamiliar place. I look around at the plain white room and feel the soft blanket over me. Just as I'm about to get up the door bursts open.
"You're finally awake. It's about time," Jacob says. He was carrying a plate full of something yummy smelling. He climbs into the bed next to me and places the plate in between us.
"Chocolate Pop Tarts. The best kind of Pop Tarts ever."
"Breakfast in bed? How sweet of you," I say. I pick up one of the warm, gooy deliciousness and take a large bite out of it.
"Don't get used to it," Jacob scoffs. He picks up a Pop Tart and breaks it in half.
"Where are we? How did I get here?"
He finishes his chewing before replying.
"We got to Florida and you wouldn't wake up. So I just carried you into the bedroom."
"Oh well do I need to go help unpack stuff?"
"Nah we did almost everything already. You're a very heavy sleeper by the way. And you drool a little."
I don't know how to reply to that so I just stay silent. We finish the rest of our Pop Tarts then just lay in the bed for awhile. I think this bed may be the most wonderful thing I've ever been on. I look around at my cute little bedroom. It is much different than my room at home. This place barely had enough room for the queen size bed, small rocking chair in the corner, and dresser. I'm happily surprised to see curtains covering sliding glass doors that must lead to the backyard. Everything is clean and painted white, which is the complete opposite of my messy and colorful room at home. It was wonderful. I was getting so used to the quietness that I almost screamed in surprise when the door burst open and Rina came in. She had an evil smile on and instantly I knew she was up to something.
"Good morning sleepyhead. Did you have a wonderful slumber?"
"What do you want?"
"Me? I don't want any- alright will you please make us homemade waffles? David tried but failed miserably."
"Ugh. No."
"Pretty please?"
"I just had breakfast. Plus I'm to lazy. Maybe I will tomorrow."
I really didn't plan on making anything tomorrow but it got her to shut up for now. She sighs loudly in disappointment and nods.
"Fine. Tomorrow then."
She turns to leave but I quickly stop her with my question.
"What are we doing today?"
"Well, um, as it turns out, it's supposed to rain for the next three days. We were going to go to the beach, it's literally right across the street, but we can't now. It's pouring."
"Great start to this vacation."
